I'm trying to use a Fishman Triple Play as basic MIDI controller in Sonar X1 using Windows XP.  I know the software for the unit is designed to run in Windows 7 & 8 but the manufacture says it should work as a basic MIDI controller in XP. For some reason it's not listed in the Edit<Preferences<MIDI<Devices list after I plug it in and XP installs it and I start X1.  Any suggestions???

One way to troubleshoot this may be to see if your computer is actually receiving MIDI or not. Try downloading MIDI OX: http://www.midiox.com/ and see if that is reading any MIDI data first. If not, it means your computer is not receiving MIDI In the first place.

Have you initialized the communication between the USB plug and the unit itself? IOW: is it running in standalone mode ok?
 
I have the Fishman unit and though it was kind of funky to get it all configured once done it seems to show up easily enough in all DAWs.

XP has it listed in the device manager but Sonar doesn't list it in the MIDI devices.
