Hey guys,

Maybe you can help me... I tried loading Aria (Garritan) and X3 is not loading synth outputs except "1/2". Aria has 32 outputs!

If I go into - Plugin Manager -> Plugin Properties -> Details... Sonar sees that it has 32 outputs but when I actually load the synth, only "1/2" loads.

If I load an older project from X2, I get an "N/A" in red, right where the output number should be.

X2 still recognizes all outputs.
Yes, I selected "All Synth Output:Stereo" and even tried 'mono' just in case.
I have Aria's latest version.

If you know what might be the problem, I could really use some help.

Thanks a lot!
Sam

I suggest doing a reset and rescan of all plug-ins through the VST section in Preferences. Once you've done that can you test it in a new project? I just gave Session Drummer 3 a try using All Synth Outputs and didn't have any issues setting different drums to the different outputs. The insert synth dialog may not be set by default the same as you had it in X2 FYI or if you unchecked "Ask This Every Time" You may not see the insert options. You can access those options again by navigating to the Synth Rack and clicking the 3rd button from the left "Insert Synth Options" Make sure all the necessary boxes are checked for using multi outs.

Hi Lance,

Thanks for your input! Unfortunately though, I have "Ask Every Time" ticked. And X3 is set to background VST scan. But I did a manual scan from the plugins menu just to be sure. Nothing worked so far.

What's weird is that I have both X2 and X3 installed and the X3 installation was a breeze - all plugins and settings are there. It's just ARIA that's acting funny in this way.

what lance said, and here's a screenshot. you also need to load "aria player (multi)" which is the multi output aria player.  the normal aria player vst only has 2 outputs enabled.

Yep that's the only Aria selection I have in my custom list - the Multi one. The other one I never use it since I always load multiple instruments, each to its own output.

And I have the same exact selection as you have in the screenshot (+ "Ask Every Time").

If I load Aria Multi in X2 - same settings, same everything as X3 - all outputs load as per normal. It's only in X3 that I only get the first 2 main outs that's why I'm baffled.

Also, X3 is taking the same dll file that X2 is using (C:\user\program files\cakewalk\vstplugins\garritan\ARIA Mutli_x64.dll)

As I said in the OP, going into - Plugin Manager -> Plugin Properties -> Details... - X3 'sees' that Aria Multi has 32 outputs. But if I load the synth, I only get one synth track and one MIDI track. In the Aria Multi instance itself, the out channels (3/4, 5/6, etc...) in the dropdown menu are all grayed out - except of course "1/2".

I apologise if I was unclear and I hope this clarifies a bit.

Thank you for your input :)

I investigated this. Unfortunately this is a bug in the Garritan ARIA player. I verified that the ARIA player apparently keys off the product name string (via audioMasterGetProductString) to do something specific for SONAR. This results in a failure when we try to get the synth output names from the plugin via effGetOutputProperties.
In X3 the product string is the actual product name (e.g. SONAR X3 Producer) which is why the plugin runs into this issue.
Checking product strings is very error prone since the product string could change at any time and even between different flavors of the product (essential, studio, etc).

The fix for this will have to come from Garritan. I'll contact them about this issue.

Thank you Noel! That is extremely kind of you.

I guess all one needs to do at this point, is wait for an update from Garritan then.

Thanks again! :)

This is the kind of rapid official Cakewalk input that will take Sonar over the top IMO.

Now I know what to expect when I get X3a as I have Aria also.

Thanx Noel!

I'll try and add a workaround to SONAR so that at least it creates the outputs for a future update. The naming will be incorrect but at least you will get an output.
