• SONAR
  • Dropzone, RXP and Pentagon not loading correctly with Sonar X3c

I have purchased recently Sonar X3 Producer and installed it on my computer with the X3c patch. I run a PC fitted with Windows 8.1, 64b, Intel I7 3770 -3.4Ghz CPU and 16 Go of RAM. I had Sonar 7  Producer before and I installed Sonar X3 Producer 2  weeks ago. Everything works correctly except some of the Instruments Plugins that I used previously in Sonar 7. Pentagon can load but does not work and Dropzone and RXP cannot be loaded when I open an ancient project or when I want to insert them in a current project.
I fixed z3ta+ re-instaaling it but this procedure did not work for RXP and Dropzone. When I inspect the different folders these plugins seem to be correctly installed with all necessary files;
Any Sonar user having an idea about how to fix it?

Thanks

Tibear

Are you running X3 as administrator?

Pentagon does not seem to load when launching Sonar without the explicit 'Run As Administrator' option, from what I have seen in other threads.

I always launch Sonar with that option (it is set in the icon Properties - in Advanced), and everything loads and works fine for me.

Give that a shot and post back, please.

Thank you Bob Bone,

yes I tried to run X3 as Administrator, but it is the same. Pentagon loads but does not work or produce any sounds. Maybe locking the audio engien. RXP and Dropzone cannot be loaded as well.

Are you running old versions of these synths?  I know Pentagon is a DXI plugin, and I thought they redid these as 64-bit plugs.

I did look, and on my system, Pentagon lives in a sub-folder for 64-bit programs, in the following path:

C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared DXi\Pentagon I

So, did you install these plugins when you upgraded to X3?  I do not know when they made the change to x64 for Pentagon, but if you are running some old version of it, perhaps you want to do a custom x64 install for only those synths, to make sure you have any updates to them.

When I click on the RGC Audio at the top of the Pentagon plugin UI, it shows version 1.4 - perhaps you can check yours, as mine plays just fine, after inserting an audio track, setting input to that track to the stereo output from Pentagon, and inserting a midi track and setting the output to Pentagon.

Hope that helps,

Pentagon has been 64bit for years (I believe v1.4 is from around 2005) and 64bit SONAR would not see the 32bit version of Pentagon. If it is loading a patch with the Valleys simulator, it may fail in a way that will cause the synth to go silent.

Don't know why Dropzone and RXP are failing. Maybe a custom install, overwriting those plug-ins may help (it might also clear up Pentagon but make sure it is not opening a patch will Valleys simulation first).

I tried several things that did not work, and yesterday night I made the decision to desinstall Sonar X3  and to re-install it. It is what I did and I performed a manual cleaning of all Dropzone and RXP left-out after X3  desinstall. Then I re-installed Sonar X3 and now Dropzone and RXP work correctly!! Unfortunatelly it did not fix The Pentagon issue. i beleive it is a different cause because even if Pentagon can load but it still crashes my audio engine.

Please be sure to run X3 as Administrator as Bob mentioned above (post #3). You must do this to use Pentagon.

This is what I did, but in normal mode or in admin mode it is the same, unless there is something special to do when I run it in admin mode.

Also double-check post # 6 above referencing the Valleys simulator.   From scook, of course.
