I have limited space on my install/program SSD drive. I want to install Sonar X3 Producer now and the drive also has X2 and X1 Producer installed at this time. I want to uninstall X1 now to make room. I will keep X2 (and the bundled progs that came w it) intact.
   Is there anything in X1 that is NOT in X2 that I could/should keep on this drive??
This may have been answered but I can't find it. There's no reason to keep X1 on this drive anymore ... is there?
 
I've had such good experiences on this forum and I'm grateful to anyone who takes the time to comment. 

I would look at the maintenance pages to see what items are addressed in each of the releases. Your SSD drive must be real small to be concerned about a program installation and space.
 
I have a 240G SSD as my C:\ drive. I install the programs on there and have all my projects on a separate hard drive(black edition) without any storage issues. All of my prior versions of SONAR are still installed and I am not having any storage issues yet.
 
The program files themselves shouldn't take much room. The project file on the other hand should be more of a concern if it isn't already.
 
This may not answer your question directly, but it should give you an insight on how others are using the SSD in the DAW.
 
btw - if your SSD goes out, there is not much you can do to recover any of it. Backups are a must!

Thanks Guitarmech. My SSD is about a third filled but I remember now that I put the X1 on an older computer (Core 2 Duo). This comp will have X2 and X3 both on the system drive. I should be OK I guess. Your backup suggestion is an important point that I've forgotten to do at this point. I will set that up ASAP, it would be just my luck to have the SSD go down. 

The program files themselves are not "huge," but the sample libraries can be. There is another thread about DimPro, and as I was researching that one I realized my Multisamples folder is 6.6Gb and still on my C drive, so I may end up moving that soon myself.
 
Another thing you may want to look into is a system optimization program. I use Iobit Advanced System Care Pro, and they have a free version that is pretty good. Each time Win7 crashes, it writes a 1GB dmp file, and if you have those and never cleaned them off, you may have a lot of extraneous "junk" on your SSD taking up space on you. Just one of those is an X3 installation!

+1 for moving sample libraries if you have another drive.

Also, windows update backups can take a huge amount of space. Disk cleanup is able to remove them.

Also, if you don't use hybernation, I never have on any PC, it can be turned off to recover a substantial amount of disk space. The hybernation file is usually the same size as the amount of RAM you have.

Also, if you have any apple mobile devices like iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch these can take up a lot of space on the system drive. There is a way to trick iTunes and move the location of these files.

Sonar program files take up little space.
