Happy New Year All,

Before I ask my question....please keep in mind that I'm not a very experienced user so please forgive my ignorance.

I have both BFD2 and Addictive Drums installed on my DAW with Sonar X3. I like the grooves in AD, but love the sound of BFD2. Is it possible to drag and drop a MIDI groove from AD onto a track in Sonar and then play it through the kits in BFD2?

I won't be triggering any notes through a keyboard or MIDI controller. Any "tweaking" will be done in the MIDI editor in Sonar.
So, if it's possible to do this, do I need to make a drum map or something to make it compatible from AD to BFD2, or simply just load BFD2 and hit play?

Thanks in advance for your help and input.

Yes you can do it, but you'll probably need to make a custom map in BFD to match your AD map. Shouldn't be a problem though.

Thanks Leadfoot. That's good to know. But how do I go about making a map in BFD? I've never attempted anything like that.

What he say .

However, remember the MIDI in every drum VSTi is made for that VSTi (and it's associated velocity layers). If AD only has 10 layers of velocity and BFD has 11 or more or 9 or less the results may be less than satisfactory.

Of course your mileage may vary.

I think (maybe) LF meant a SONAR drum map that translates the AD midi notes to the BFD equivalent. IIRC there is an AD map for SONAR (on the AD site) just load that up, find the differences and edit the map and save it with a name like AD->BFD-MAP

Good point Bapu. But isn't that something I could compensate for while "tweaking" (drawing notes with the pencil tool) things in PRV or am I totally not getting this?

Yeah, my (unspoken) point is that you may have to edit some velocity for the specific project because (assuming) you previewd in AD but then in BFD it sounds kinda "funny".

That's great stuff. Thanks so much for the help Bapu. I appreciate it.

That is AWESOME. I will have to download that and spend some time playing around with it tomorrow. That is unless the wife has other plans for me. :) Happy New Year Bapu!!
