Lynn - this is for a patch and not a version upgrade.
 
I have even asked this when I was in direct contact with the bakers. Never heard a good reason to keep this process. Every time I add a patch, I wonder why SONAR can't figure this out if it is already established.

OK, I wondered about that.  I apparently don't understand your query.  Are you talking about synth patches from one version of Sonar to another?  I don't understand your definition of patch.  

Patch = X3C to X3D, etc...

OK, then my original comment applies.  I'm always asked if I want to migrate my settings to a new patch, as I did in this last upgrade.  I guess that it doesn't do that for you.  I'm sure someone out there might be thinking that you could try reinstalling the X3d patch.
