complaints about the program is good in order to get things fixed; but the question really is how much of it is the program and how much of it are people systems not setup correctly, people not understanding how things work; and third party stuff on the systems that's not working with the program. I don't know I have few issues but who doesn't. I still record live every sunday; I still mix through out the week and still perform what I want to. Maybe I am not using the program to its full extent but what I am doing is a lot.  (humbly speaking/just having a lil conversation)

Nope it isn't that bad. But rest assured there will be a long list here shortly that will say otherwise :)

Cheers...

so is this list put together to get things fixed or just to prove that it is not a perfect program? ( which there is not one on the market)

It's a list.... so far I haven't seen it become sentinel. Maybe it says "Vote Reagan" or something... who knows.... it's just a a list... Bill Hicks are you there??? What do you say....

He says it's just a list...

To expand....

"Hey, is this real, or is this just a list?" And other people have remembered, and they come back to us and say, "Hey, don't worry; don't be afraid, ever, because this is just a list." And we … kill those people. "Shut him up! I've got a lot invested in this list, shut him up! Look at my furrows of worry, look at my big bank account, and my family. This has to be real." It's just a list. But we always kill the good guys who try and tell us that, you ever notice that? And let the demons run amok … But it doesn't matter, because it's just a list. And we can change it any time we want. It's only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings of money. Just a simple choice, right now, between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your doors, buy guns, close yourself off. The eyes of love instead see all of us as one. Here's what we can do to change the world, right now, to a better list. Take all that money we spend on weapons and defenses each year and instead spend it feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would pay for many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace.

So there :)

I'll have to reserve comment on "d", as DAW still being upgraded but I agree wholeheartedly... the X series, up through "c" has been wonderful for me, and while many things needed to be flushed out in the beginning, X3 has been exquisitely awesome and the iterations (a to d) have been rapid, lots of bits tweaked and largely what remains are a few main users with personal differences (ie, takelanes/video) which get down to philosophical/habits/system issues.

It is miraculous, to me... that such an amazing and complex/deep workstation exists on planet "eaarth"... a decade ago millions of $$$ couldn't have bought the power of what X3pro offers out of the box.

Humans are too often funny, fickle, winy, self-oriented, ungratuitous, and ungrateful,  stuck in their own precepts and historical perspectives... which is part of the reason the planet, and us as a species, is in such trouble...

I fully appreciate and respect all the efforts which have gone into X and love the bakers, who've been outdoing themselves over the past year... fixing bits as they crop up...

And this is not coming through on the forum at the moment, which is sad.  Less emotional garbage would be nice.  And remembering the PC platform is difficult to manage, which they are doing a steller job of...

I just thought of another thing.... as the bakers, at all levels, are really active on the forums these days it is maybe bringing out a lot more of the issues some have which they've felt neglected, even now... for example... the play list situation... "Hey, they're listening... I need to speak up... now's my chance..."  Personally I think this is good on both sides... but less venom about the past is warranted... as they are listening...

And, maybe a little love thrown in, for good measure... because, folks... we are frackin' lucky to be alive and have this creation available to sculpt our visions...

After the fiasco launch of X1 when everyone wanted to jump ship we have constantly been bombarded with the "fix it" list. I don't use every nook and cranny of the programs but what I have used in my workflow has been pretty solid. Other than the lack of even a semi-pro staff view, I have not had too hard a time doing anything I needed to with the program. That being said, X3 seems to be the most solid running version yet. I am not a licensed computer tech but I would venture to say that most problems can probably be traced back to system problems.
My main concern is that before they turn out a new, improved version every year they should test it not only on a $10,000 computer system. Why not check it out on the barest minimum setup it will possibly run on as well? A lot of us working stiffs can't afford the latest and greatest and most expensive rig to run this software. I would feel better about having it run on the lowest processor and lowest amount of RAM possible just so we can get an idea if it's going to choke on our rigs or not.
Don't get me wrong! I have been lucky to not have the problems most people have complained about here and elsewhere. We should be thankful that for whatever reason they seem to be cranking out updates as fast as they can. Look at how long we went with only one update in X2!

Sidroe... cake specifies minimum spec.  I don't think it's the spec so much as all the crap loaded on budget machines... a budget build from your local small independent computer store would likely solve this problem... but expecting cake to bake a rock solid complex work of art that'll run on every piece of crap out there would piss me off... because a lot of sacrifices would have to be made. Personally I think if you're goin' with X3 you're serious... my friend went with something called mixmaster or something... it's a joke but I'm sure it runs on anything...and no one responds if you have an issue...

Btw, I count myself as a working stiff... take home between 10-15K a year bustin' my butt gardening. Live frugally to afford what my sig elucidates... tried the crap computers at costco, good specs, big problems...took um back rather than complain about Sonar 6,7,or 8 even though, compared to X3, they sucked...

Personally, I fine the involvement of Bakers in the forums really exciting and refreshing... and I hope each person posting cuts a bit of the wine and replaces it with gratitude, acknowledging the complex task of evolving this platform... We all want what we want but we can't all get it at once...

How bad is X3?
I swear their are some folks who apparently use Sonar as a "game" to find out its faults and weaknesses rather than to make music.
Why not see the product as half-full, instead of empty and draining low.
1. Try to learn it best
2. Find workarounds to overcome any limitations
3. Use another DAW or plugs to supplement Sonar's inadequacies
Most of all criticisms I read has merit and the bugs reported has merit; along with some good improvement suggestions...........
I deem to focus on what is firing in my cranium into beautiful noises instead of neurotic disturbances.
