Is there a way to save the midi externally to the project?

Am I right that the midi is what made the project get so big so fast?

Export the project as a MIDI file. I'm assuming it's a MIDI project done in Sonar.

Very odd.  Did you freeze the midi track?

Turn it into a wav and it will become giant. We are only talking mb here. With all the indexing going on etc in a cakewalk project I'm not that surprised. I'd be interested to know what would happen with a 1 hour MIDI clip.

Oh and what would happen if you save it as a bundle, close , open and save as a project again...

I'll try these things.

Nope... I didn't freeze the track.

16 MB isn't much, but when the project is 1/2 a MB it Auto-Saves in a second. At 16 MB it's lots of seconds. :-(

It isn't that big of a deal. It could be related to the Soft Synth (AD). Basically, it's a 3 hour 8 track project at 24 bit 96. Everything was fine until I decided to augment the kick drum with some AD kick.  I used Audio Snap to extract the midi and then channelled the midi to AD.

It was at this point that the project size exploded. I was hoping that it was due to the midi file being saved as part of the project rather than in a separate file like the Waves. I don't know tho. This is above my head.

I usually have auto-save set to save every 5 changes when working in all audio projects. But now, I've had to turn auto-save way down so it isn't interfering with my work.

That's also not that big of a deal. I was really just hoping that if I knew how to do it, I could keep the project size small and have my midi augmentation too.

Happy New Year!!

It is probably the AudioSnap markers that inflated the file. If you are through with AudioSnap, you can shrink the project back down by saving it as a bundle.

Interesting, Scook. I deleted the track on which I used AudioSnap trying to remove related issues. I'll try switching to the bundle type and see how that works.

Thanks!!

I don't use autosave, I use CTRL-S (finger save ). Cheers...

I can't save as bundle because of the Audio Snap stuff.

I can't bounce to clip because the clips have been deleted.

Hmmm. Not sure how to proceed.

I tried the clean audio folder and deleted what it found, but that isn't going to help me much.

When I tried bounce to clips on a section of track with no clip in it, it bounced the entire track.
