Correct me if I'm wrong, but Cakewalk has never released a limiter than can be side chained in any of their products (or even as a standalone plugin)?

Thanks

Correct. Actually, I can't think of any product that's marketed specifically as a "limiter" that does.

The CA-2A DOES support side chain...

Feature Highlights:
• Meticulously modeled.
• Easy to use with simple controls.
• Warm, smooth and natural sounding compression.
• Frequency-dependent gain reduction.
• Compressor and Limiter modes.
• Up to 40 dB of smooth gain reduction.
• Sidechain input for ducking, De-essing and pumping.
• Gain reduction CV output to modulate other effects.
• Zero latency for real-time tracking and mixing.
• Fully modeled "R37" HF Pre-emphasis control.
• VST, Audio Units & ProChannel compatible.

Just an FYI...whether the side chain works in Limiter mode I can't say, as I've never used
it that way..

Even though the CA2A has a limiting mode, I don't believe it has ever been marketed specifically as a limiter. In fact, being that it is officially titled "CA-2A T-type leveleling amplifier" and the term "limiter mode" is mentioned only once among a long list of features indicates that limiting is not even a primary focus of the plugin.  Most compressors can act as limiters with a high enough ratio, but I doubt that is what OP is was seeking. I suppose it's the closest thing.

Oh right CA2A has a limiting mode I'll check, but to be honest it doesn't have enough flashing lights like the Pro Channel concrete limiter which I've grown to love (for all it's flaws)... Cake are you there, bung a sidechain into this! :) Please !!! (OK out with enhancement request).

CA2A definitely does not work well as a limiter. I have tried it many times and it just falls short. There is always a random peak that sneaks through. I love it as a compressor but pretty useless as a limiter for me. The sidechain works well though.

Good to know, I'm using CA2A as a sidechain all the time, although I'm finding the sidechain detection is a hit and miss affair when paired with the output from a track, but once it gets working it's fine (one of these days I'll log a bug). So I just put in a enhancement request for Pro Channel Concrete limiter. I looked at the Nomad bundle with Pro X3 as well, no dice...

I use Sonitus:fx Compressor (it is included in Sonar many years) for sidechain compressor/limiter. it's good enough for me.

These types of  comps modeled after the hardware aren't intended for brickwall/ ISP limiting.
I don't know if this or any other vendors offer oversampling in their models either.

I've become picky, and have abandoned Sonitus as it isn't VST. It's a good point though it does have a limiting mode and it is side-chainable (so we were all wrong!). But it's also legacy.
