Gonzo, If you really want to do some re-mastering to this piece, might I suggest some really awesome tools that may benefit your efforts. I use these tools in my work and you may enjoy them as well, and they work along with Sonar products. Here they are Izotope Alloy 2, Ozone 6 and RX 4. The advanced products work the best and give you many more options. Check them out at http://izotope.com/ and see what they have to offer and if they might work for your needs in final mastering.

Great song here and with a few tweaks from these Izotope products through your Sonar product, you could bring this song to total recall on a professional level of unsurpassed quality.

Peace and Blessings, John

Sounds Great
After hearing this , I'm just gonna have to bite the bullet and figure out how do build an isolation both for my apt ..
Having to record guitar direct sucks and your song and tone has reinforced that to me once agin

Kenny

PS I did like what you played …

thanks for listening, john

as it is, i have WAVES GOLD as mastering tools, i've been using for many years now, and have gotten quite adept at using them..

typically, my mastering chain is dirt simple: Linear phase EQ, Linear Phase Multi band Comp, L2 limiter and dither.

that's it.
i found that anymore than this, clowns up the sound....

but i've heard great things about isotope, and when i upgrade my sonar daw this season (once win 10 calms down) i may very well move to a new software, i'll put isotope in the running for the purpose....

now, THIS song, and this mix, was professionally mastered by Falcon Eddy Studio Services (new hampshire), but the whole album was mixed by me, using a standalone VS 1880 machine....

i think the MIXING has a lot more to do with the end result than the mastering (ultimately, mastering should be INVISIBLE!!!).....
and planning on mixing this in the new version of sonar is exciting to me....

hey kenny!!
glad you dig this one...

i was lucky enough to be living in a house, at the time this was recorded,
and i had CARTE BLANCHE in regards to absolutely slaying every molecule of air in the house with intense rock and roll.

LOL

now, i own a Demeter Isolation Cabinet.

i spent a LOT of time using it, experimenting with it,
and at the end of the day,
i can say that no matter WHAT i did........

it always sounded like it was inside a box.

do not do this.

i repeat....

Nein
now, to actually build enough isolation to be able to crank an amp in a room,
you have to use MASS, but it can be done.
at the very least,
2x6 walls full of ROXSUL is what i would do,
solid core door,
nice double pane window.
they even make special A/C or at least vent fans, for the inside, that are sound trapped.

but that all sounds like a pain.....
maybe there is a better solution for you?

a place where you can go and do temporary setups just to capture a bunch of tracks at a time?
a buddy with a basement?

Hey Bat ,
Thanks for taking the time to rap w me
Yes , thinking about building an Iso Cab is just wishful thinking for me over here ….
I happen to agree w you , I think I just need to find a place to record away from home ….

Kenny

PS I've always liked the stuff and playing you do  I don't always comment because I'm green with envy

I'D sell you my demeter cab cheap,
if i thought the heavy SOB shipping wouldn't offset the cost savings...

i still use it,
but normally just for loading cabs....

as you can see, i've done a little bit of creative 'foaming' on the inside,
to cut down on some of the reflections....
it works.

the Demeter currently has a Eminence Legend 122 in it....it's a 15 watt model.
and it's dirt easy to change drivers out in it...
i also have a Carvin British series, i think a 80 watt model, that i throw in it from time to time...

Gonzo ,

Now , that is a very nice setup you have there !

It is true the shipping cost would be astronomical on that ISO cab .Then I will have to hire a piano mover to carry it up the 3 flights of stairs where I live ….
It could work if you happen to decide to throw the Mesa head in at no extra cost to me , then you got a deal

I know don't hold my breath ….I'm just having fun rapping w you ,

have a good one ,

Kenny

this is excellent - LOVE the way 'the moon is full, the water dark' section comes in and breaks it up - takes you by surprise.
Very cool
