Seriously, I was listening to the GA bowl game... GA made a touchdown. They actually said, "This touchdown was brought to you by XYZ Bank". AMAZING... at least we didn't have to play in the Dollar General Bowl.
When I was in Germany a few years ago there were no commercials during shows. They would have 10 to 15 minutes of commercials between shows but no interruptions... it was strange watching The Sons of Katie Elder with John Wayne speaking German.

Blast from the past - that was the name of my band ! (see avatar)

I often watch US feeds of UK "soccer" matches and it always amuses me when the refer to "The Lexus injury time" !
I really can't beleve that anyone ever watching goes out and buys a Lexus afterwards.

Now I'm seeing commercials run at the bottom or sides of the screen while a show or games on. SUCKS! I still remember the good old days of 3 channels and 15 min of program and 2 min of commercials

How much advertising will the American public accept? That limit is still unknown.

I read recently that on broadcast TV, 14 minutes of every hour is devoted to ads. On cable TV, it's 17 minutes. If it was fruit juice, nobody would want it, because it would be too watered down.

In French there's a word "publiphobe," meaning averse to advertising. Plenty of French people describe themselves that way, but I guess not many Americans.
