Hello all, Im new to Sonar and im testing X2. And im having this problem with faderport where the pan knob doesnt work as it should be, and im a software developer, and i can tell its a driver problem. I know cos i tried it in Acid Pro 7 and it works as well in Cubase LE 5. I want Sonar X2 to be my main Daw in the near future, but not with this bug and also in the Controller Surface properties ive notice this: 1) There are no lots of usable user actions 2) Mix button does "open" the mixer, but it doesnt show it if its already opened and it doesnt bring it top, nor it close it when its open and user clicked again the mix button. Its ok if cakewalk cant modify that window, thats probably the hardware vendor problem. But, when the mixbutton is clicked again it should close the mixer, like when pressing the button D. These 3 things are kinda important to me, and I hope i can get an answer before buying the product. Thanks, JC.

I gave up on my Faderport with X2.  Had it working (mostly) in 8.5 but even then the flying fader stopped working at one point.  Under X2 I couldn't get anything so got a Behringer 8-channel desk which is far better imo, especially for the money.  I do miss that Faderport fader though - it was whisper quite and very smooth, while the Behringer ones jitter about and a re pretty noisy.

My Faderport is now in the 'Charity Shop' pile sadly...

Hey, thanks for the reply. Mine works perfectly, there is a firmware update that fix everything in X2. Maybe u can update it and make it work. But idk if the pan knob is goin to work.. Im working now with Presonus people and thomann.de to figure out whats the problem, they are doing testing and stuff. I will keep in this thread any news. Cheers!

Is that very new (in the last 2 months)?  I updated the firmware about that time ago and it effectively killed the unit for me under Sonar.  If so, I'll pull it out the charity box and have another go - I still like the transport control and that nice fader.

Did you updated it with this one? http://support.presonus.c...torized-Fader-Solution

Quick update - I tried the latest drivers/firmware update but still no luck.  The Faderport is seen as a device, but the faderport.dll placed in the Shared Surfaces folder is not picked up.  Thus although I can add it as a controller none of the buttons respond (or even light up when pressed).

Back to the charity box pile I'm afraid...  A real pity because I wanted to site it atop my keyboard to use as a 'remote' transport control.

Hello all, for the faderport, go to > C:\Program Files (x86)\PreSonus\FaderPort\FaderPort Dll\Sonar\x64 (for the 64 bit version) and copy the Faderport.dll into the Sonar Shared Surfaces folder. Then, open an MS DOS command in administrator mode (!) and enter (attention with spaces and ignore the brackets) : [cd C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Surfaces\ ] > press Enter and [C:\windows\SysWow64\regsvr32 Faderport.dll] and Enter again. In Sonar, go to the Midi options (Preferences menu) and activate all the aftertouch's fonctions and finally, create a new surface control with the new faderport choices. And normally, it will be your new toy ;)

Aha - the old register the dll routine.  Had forgotten that - will try once more tonight!  Thanks

Well what d'ya know - I got it working thanks to that reg fix. Thanks for the pointer iTiDav. @Andreujanc - some of those function buttons have never worked fully in Sonar. The mix button for example was always an 'open' rather than a toggle. But you do have a great little fader and transport control...
