Any one else seeing this?
In Console View the Gain knob disappears when adjusting the Gain on a track.
I've seen it on the Busses as well, but its intermittent.
Also in the inspector, again intermittent.
However, when adjusting gain in the Inspector, that knob in the Console disappears
Looks like this: (this is the inspector btw)

Tried to "search" the forum for similar problems, but as always "search" is just about useless.
Didn't see it in the "confirmed" thread (whatever its called).
OK you "caught" me, this shot is from my office rig where I am not using AERO (it don't work on this machine).
But as you can see below I'm still seeing the gain knob disappear on my Cat.

Looks like you have some Aero features turned off. I would enable them all and see if the issue persists. I haven't seen that with Visual Effect set for Best Appearance.

Try updating the drivers for your graphics card.

Did you update your graphics card drivers?

If this was a real desk I'd be asking you if you take sugar in your coffee....

#1 - I would never let windows decide what is best for my computer. I always choose best performance.

Are you using a dual or single monitor setup?

Worth trying best performance... maybe... check it out just in case it resolves the issue....

Let windows decide works fine for me, none of this is going to matter that much with the power of a modern day PC. If you were getting dropouts maybe as a last resort to save a CPU cycle (even then it probably won't make much difference)....Very much a personal decision where you want it...

This really looks like a graphics driver issue to me right now or a corrupted bitmap, the performance tab is generally related to the Windows UI not Sonar's, although Sonar uses the Windows UI for menus etc, this pot isn't part of it.

Cheers...

I have friends who do not have that luxury to let windows decide. They have older laptops and PCs. That option is the first place I point them if they are having performance issues. I believe that is the biggest bang for the buck if you have performance issues.

Bottom line is that it saves performance or it removes performance if you usually let windows decide.

I do agree that it may be a graphics issue, but not necessarily with the graphics card. Most graphic issues I have seen due to drivers are on the 2nd monitor screen and are usually Matrox drivers. Not saying other manufacturers won't crater on driver support though.

Why wasn't this noticed in X3C or X3A?

I had a similar problem some time ago after one of the Sonar upgrades, I don't remember which. Knobs would go missing on plug-ins.
It was more likely to happen with lots of plugin windows open.
The problem was my cheapo video card, it's performance was no longer capable of keeping up. I got more dropouts and audio blips as well concurrent with the knob issue.
Getting a higher performance video card solved all that.

No I have NOT updated my graphics card (sending an email to Jim today to check on that).
As Alex (I think) mentioned, he has "issues" with the latest invida drivers.
IF IT AIN'T BROKE...
Windows is up to date on my Cat (as of about a week ago, no internet in the studio).
I'm running 3 monitors with the Cat, I like to keep the Console over on #3 when tracking, pulling it to the center when mixing.
Today I opened a project on the office rig (single monitor these days) that had the Console "docked".
NO PROBLEMS until I "floated" it.
I'll check that out on the Cat later.
Thanks for chiming in...
