I don't miss the sound of tape at all... However tape did have one great advantage. When rewinding the tape that was the time where you could have a little chat with the band, sip your tea of whatever ... things move too quickly nowadays...

I was speaking completely tongue in cheek. I was trying to be funny. I guess that went well. Not!

Another hiss fan, eh?

So I think you'll appreciate this story. I was reviewing Waves' Aphex Aural Exciter plug-in, which has an option to add in the noise and other artifacts. I said I just didn't get why they did that, wouldn't it be considered an advantage of software to compensate for those problems? The software designer said that when they did A-B blind testing with and without noise, the people evaluating the plug-in usually chose the version with the noise as sounding "right."

I cannot help but chuckle seeing the 64-bit DPE debate and Tape Emulator threads on the same page.

Kiosk, why wait for the DAT emu! I can sell you the real HARDWARE unit for thousands of dollars because we all know the price of the hardware will shoot thru the roof on the "vintage" market! Now all I have to do is get it out of the boat I've been using it as an anchor for. LOL!
