Razorwit, I'm not able to make anything out of your image except that you have a powerful PC. :-)

Hi gswitz,
For a second there the image I thought you were referring to was my avatar image and I was going to say "yes, my default avatar image does make me and my PC seem powerful....(lowers voice dramatically).....mysterious and powerful!!!".

Then I realized that you were probably talking about my task manager snip. It's just a screen grab of my system resources during the period I inserted an instance of Channel Tools. Beeps asked me to put it in to make sure there wasn't any resource hogging going on when I inserted the plug.

That said, just in case you were referring to my avatar image: yes, my default avatar image does make me and my PC seem powerful....(lowers voice dramatically).....mysterious and powerful!!!

Hi Dean - Did you not try this?

What happens when "Always Steam Audio through FX" setting is flipped? (Preferences -> Playback and recording).
What happens when you create a blank project (no template) and load this up?

I think this may have been talked about before, but just in case this is not clear please goto Edit -> Preferences -> Driver Settings and untick 64 bit double precision engine.

Also I'm confused, are you running X3B or X3C?

Thanks

Alex

@Razorwit

My DLL is the same as Scooks, think Scook has found your issue.

If not here are a few things to try...

Is 64 bit precision engine turned off? (Preferences -> Driver Settings) as per #7.
What happens when "Always Steam Audio through FX" setting is flipped? (Preferences -> Playback and recording).
What happens when you create a blank project (no template) and load this up?

Cheers...

Hi CakeAlexS
I thought I'd found the culprit as well with the DLL thing, but alas, scooks dll does the same thing. Thanks for the questions. I've tried it with 64 bit engine both on and off and in as simple a project as I can create (check earlier in the thread for details). Interesting thought about disabling Always Stream Audio through FX, but I tried it just now and it didn't seem to help.

Thanks for the help and the response.

Hi CakeAlexS
X3C. The first version I had installed on this computer was X3B but I've since upgraded.

I have had this happen before, but only with certain plugins in the project (voxengo's glisseq being the worst offender).

For me when the "pop" would happen often the offending channel would not play audio any more, but the other channels would play fine.  This only happens to me on x3c.

If you've just installed Skook's DLL try this now:

Hi CakeAlexS
Good thought, but still doing it after full reset and rescan. In fact, sometimes it pops and the meter seems to "stick" :

When it does that the meter is pegged but no sound is coming out. If I bypass the plug the meter drops to -inf. Re-enable it, loud pop and the meter sticks like that. I only see that now and again but it sure is weird.

Funny thing is that it's only happening with this one plugin. Everything else seems to work just fine....Waves, UAD, FabFilter...all of it.

So really an uninstall and a reinstall of this plugin is next on the cards. Please run chkdsk on your hard drive before you do this. You might want to have a go at updating your audio drivers and firmware as well.

Alex, yeah, I think you might be right. I'll probably put a call in to Cakewalk support first though. I've called them before and they've been pretty good about fixing me up. But I think an uninstall/reinstall is probably in the cards.

Thanks
Dean
