  • New song - Follow The River (remixed 9/21)

Lynn
This song was inspired by a recent purchase, the Waves Morphoder for $29.  I'd never had a good vocorder before, and I've always admired the way Pink Floyd used one on "A New Machine pt.1 &2" from A Momentary Lapse Of Reason, so I came up with this about 4 weeks ago.  It explains how my life is kind of like a river, always following the path of least resistance.  As always, I welcome your comments, yea or nay, and thank you all for your help, past and present.

What a cool song Lynn! The things that stand out to me are your awesome vocals and the guitar...these are just the icing on a really tasty cake. So creative. Your music is an inspiration!

Hiya Lynn,

At last! A new tune from you

And what a pleasure that was... Like Tim says, your vocals and guitar playing are great. So well produced too.

Thanks for sharing Lynn, a job well done

cheers

Hey, Lynn,

Wow, this is a really unique and very cool song with a variety of tasty elements blended into a nice tight sounding production!

I love the moody vibe, the piano, and synth on this one are excellent, and your guitar and vocals are always top notch.  The mix sounds full and wide with lots of punch.

You've always got a great, very recognizable signature sound.

Great stuff, Lynn, really well done as always!

Tim, thanks for your comments and kind words.  You've been doing pretty good, yourself, lately.

Andy, much appreciated.  Are you listening on headphones?  I thought of you when I was monitoring on my cans.  I even got out my ear buds for this (and a few other buds, as well ;)

Bob, you dog!  You sure have a way with words!

OK, I agree great vocals! But aren't you kind of burying them, or making them compete, with synth pads, and a saxomophone? They can stand a bit of space to shine - just a thought. Maybe the synth pads in the "just like a river" chorus could be panned to the edges, or panned a little more away from the vocal?

That's a pretty sweet harmonica there! And I liked your backing vocals, very strong.

cheers,
-Tom

Excellent song Lynn, very catchy tune that kept playing in my head. I listened on my H-phones and do agree with Tom with panning the synths to bring out your strong vocals......of course, all this is somewhat subjective.

As it is, the mix/production and performance darn good....very good stuff!!!! :)

This is very nice Lynn, though I agree with Tom the vox could be a little more out front.

Thanks for sharing

really neat song, lynn...

i think you need to add some clarity to the vocals,
they are just not quite present enough to come across.

i could just be level....
or it could be eq, like 6k and up.....

listen to it real loud...
then real soft.....
then make the changes, it'll be somewhere inbetween those two listening environments.

to me, this is like a cool cross between leon russell, and the floyd.
