  • After last Windows 10 update I can't "save as" anything!

Help!  Windows 10 has suddenly (I assume the last update is at fault), decided I can't save or save as, anything that I attempt to download. It's frustrating because I can't get my Plug In Alliance b_x rooMS, that I bought yesterday.

Is this an administrator thing? Any help will be very much appreciated!

Shouldn't be an issue Michael.  Try shutting down and restarting
and see if it goes away...

Mike,

Like Larry said. Restart and pray.

Fired up the laptop today. Taking a long time to boot and then the don't turn off your computer message. Win 10 installing updates. Bloody mess. Nothing qualitative would connect and took forever to launch any program. This happened before with the automatic updates that took out my video card. After a couple restarts, it only takes 3 minutes to boot. At least I can get to the DAW.

Advice would be to clone a working image on an external drive to undo the win 10 invasion in case everything goes south.

Concerned about the cancer invasion of win 10 on many levels that we can see and those we can't. Big Brother is watching, moving in, and not for the good of any of us.

just disable windows update, it's just a couple of clicks regardless of if you have home or pro version, mine has been disabled for well over 3 months and i don't have any issues, ironically a lot of people who do stay up to date seem to be suffering constant issues. ymmv

A couple of ideas, Michael...
  1. Make sure you have a good, up-to-date antivirus and run a full scan.
  2. If you're still having problems, try uninstalling the most recent Windows Updates one-by-one, testing along the way.

In my case, each time win10 updates it deletes all restore points. All attempts to reset, restore, or reinstall fail. Downloaded the win tool & win image today. Will see how far they get when I get home.

1=Install Windows 10 from Microsoft website: Successful!

2=Set WiFi to Metered Connection to limit Windows Update: Successful!

3=Create restore point: Successful!

4=Install Sonar

Hey Soens,

When viewing your post, those moving mouse pointers almost made me drop my phone! I thought they were gnats or bugs crawling on my screen!

And after the Windows 10 anniversary update the first thing I did was enable the metered connection. I had no idea what was going on with that anniversary update until I turned on my PC and after about an hour, it finally booted up to the log on screen. I was seriously pissed because I had about an hour to do some touching up on an X3 project and thanks to the update, I had to finish up later that night.

And good one with those moving mouse pointers! :)

Regards,
Steve

Restart didn't do anything, yet. Soens; thanks for the laugh!
Thanks to you all for all the suggestions. I'll post back after I try some more.
