I trying to record a live bass part for a track I've been working on. The track so far has a drum loop and an instance of Addictive drums which I'm using to enhance the kick and snare from the loop. There is a synth pad and and a piano both from Dim Pro and an instance of Rapture which only plays on the chorus. This all play back perfectly until I try to record the bass. As soon as I engage the PDC button the Addictive Drums goes out of time. Is this something to do with the Input Echo button on the Ad track as it keeps lighting up when I engage the PDC button even though my bass track is the one in focus?
 
Sorry if the above is a bit vague but I can't think of any other way to describe the problem.
 
Any ideas anyone? I've gone through the site and used google but can't find any solution. 
 
 

OKay so I think I've figured it out. If I have the 'Input Echo All Channels' button lit in the Mix Module I don't have the issue so I guess that's the right way to work. I'm not quite understanding this yet but I''ll get there. One thing I'm really not getting is why the AD track seems to default to Input Echo = Auto Thru when I press the Input Echo button on my Bass Audio track.

I must be missing something really obvious here........ I've opened the same project again tonight and I no longer seem to need the PDC button. I started playing my bass and there is no discernible latency. So I hit 'play' and play along with my song..........no latency and the PDC button is not lit. Bass track is Rec enabled and input echo = on. Funny thing is, now my piano part input echo = auto thru.............
 
Now I don't intend to start this as a **** session, so please don't flame, but I am gonna say that I can plug in my bass while working in Reason 7, play along/record and I have no problems whatsoever...........**** just works! Which is why I'm hoping someone can help me with this. Maybe, I'm missing something coz I'm so used to another workflow........or maybe I'm just stooopid............but I doubt that :)

PDC = Plugin Delay Compensation.  No Compensation = Delay in Plugin.
 
This is why I never recommend using the PDC wen tracking.
 
If you're having latency issues, try hitting "E" first, which disables all effect, including any latency inducing ones such as Concrete Limiter, Convolution Reverb, LP-64 EQ and Multiband, Transient shaper etc.

Thanks for the response. The only reason I've been using the PDC is because when I started with X3 I was getting a very noticeable delay when playing my bass and someone on here suggested I use it. The buffer for my Fast Track Pro is set to 128 and 48khz. These settings have worked perfectly for Reason and work perfectly for X3 until I decide to record live audio........but then again I didn't have the problem last night even though nothing has changed in the project from the day before.
 
I'll try your suggestion of hitting 'E' when I get home this afternoon and see if that makes any difference. I'm sure this is gonna be something simple that I'm just not seeing yet.

Check to see if you have PC Concrete Limiter, LP -64 EQ or Multiband, T-64 Transient Shaper, Perfect Space, or any Convolution Reverb. They will induce latency.

Is that on all tracks or just the audio track? 

If those plug-ins exist anywhere in the project they introduce latency.

On any track. They either use "look ahead" or are CPU intense, so Sonar has to delay everything until they're ready.
