As always there is a logical reason. If everybody ran 64 bit there would be a few less issues to resolve than with 32 bit. Also software companies will have less versions to test which means far more time for testing 64 bit. That would be a big deal.

BTW IE 6 is a website developers nightmare. Even MS had enough of it. So you know now.

And probably a few new ones, not to mention a fair few customers who just wouldn't buy it without some guaranteee that all 32bit plugs would work. I have some that I use all the time that don't function in Sonar 64. If it came to a choice between giving them up or not having a 64bit only Sonar, I would do without the new Sonar. As it is the biggest obstacle to me producing truly great stuff from what I already have is the idiot sat in front of the computer screens. ;)

I'm sure it will happen one day though.

I don't know anything about developers issues, but as a user I've never liked any version of IE.

Bitbridge is included with 64 bit Sonar. Impossible to guarantee all plugins will work in any scenario, that's mainly up to the third parties that develop them.

I understand that and seeing as in my case those plugs are no longer sold then it isn't going to happen which in turn is why I wouldn't buy a 64bit only DAW.

I haven't installed a 32bit version of SONAR since making the move from 8.5 to X1.  However, every now and then I consider it just because of those older 32bit DX plugins that will never work in 64bit, like the FX series reverb, chorus, flange, etc.  If one was really attached to any of those, then 32bit SONAR would be required.

Yeah the endless catch 22 :)

64 bit VST3 only by the look of it.

I can understand new plugins being 64-bit only since all major DAWS now support 64-bit and there would be no logical reason to run a 32-bit plug on a 64-bit DAW if you already have 64-bit version. However, I don't see the advantage of cutting support for legacy products for the sole purpose of trying to force everyone to go 64-bit only.  It seems a bit draconian and bound to tick off valuable customers who may have a go to plugin or synth that is not available as 64-bit and does not work in bridge software.  There are a number of people who keep a 32-bit version of software installed along side their 64-bit one because a beloved plugin simply will not work otherwise.

As for Sampletank 3, I have adapted a wait and see approach.  If the upgrade is in the stratosphere, they can kiss it. What I do like about sampletank is the sounds sit in the mix very well out the box.  They suck for solo work imo.

I always enjoyed ST2.5.. With the many group buys at IKM, I have every product, sample and loop library that I have no need for any more sounds or a new player. With NI Komplete 9 Ultimate, Independence 3.0 and EWQL Play ST 2.5's become a little dated. They'd have to do something really special in ST 3 to make it worth my while to upgrade. But who knows, you can never have to many plugins, samples, loops can you?

Mike, I too own nearly all of the ik store but haven't used it in years, although it was nice in 32bit days.  IF ik is smart, ST3 will be a hugely more powerful "wrapper" which can use the 70 or so gigs of ik samples I've got.  That's the ONLY way I'll consider it, as my investment is just dead meat otherwise and I will not support a company that leaves my investment in the dirt.  I loved lots of the sounds and with a good ARP and all the current dingles and dangles Sample Logic and others are implementing, it would be quite interesting.

If the existing library is SOL, then to me, so is ik (until I get 64bit, they're just "ikky")
