I personally don't think this is an unreasonable request. I would love to see Take Lanes take on a more indented approach with colors (perhaps maybe making the Tracks convex, and the Take Lanes concave in shading?). For take lanes to have a subtle darker shade of the Track background color would also be useful. I have a 30" cinema screen and a 24" side screen. Even with the large monitor, I still find that I get lost in all the Take Lanes vs. tracks. One slight problem I see is that the Lanes have the exact same size buttons as the Tracks. If they were 20$ smaller, that would help.
 
The current indented structure of Lanes is quite subtle on a large monitor. On a smaller monitor, the indented Take Lanes are easier to see. More, the background color of the Take Lanes is the same as the Track, so if you were only viewing the middle of the screen on a larger display, the difference is indistinguishable.
 
I would highly suggest Feature Requests. I'm not trying to encourage trolling here, but I do agree that to see a change here would likely take more willing souls to ask for it.
