  • EQ in ProChannel Does Not Appear to be Working.

I haven't checked all of the 30 some tracks I've got on my project.  I just started working with the overhead mics for the drums.  I was attempting to EQ them to cut out the low end and adjust some of the high end.  I figures, using the ProChannel strip would be great.  Prior to recording the drums, I used it with the guitars and it seemed to be working just find.

I've got the drum tracks routed to a "drums" bus (I've also tried routing directly to "master" with no difference).

Anyway, as I am adjusting the EQ, there doesn't seem to be any difference in what I am hearing.  I could turn the EQ down in all four areas without hearing any difference.  Yes, the Equalizer is turned on.  I could see the waves in the background.  I also clicked it on and off without noticing any difference in the sound, no matter how radically I've made EQ adjustments.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks.

Sure you've got the right track in focus? Congratulations for not hearing "placebo FX" while turning knobs.

Yes, I was soloing the tracks so I could hear the difference and I was on the right tracks.

I started experimenting with the acoustic guitar tracks which I had adjusted a while back.  The EQ was working just fine there.  So, I returned to the overhead mic tracks and, for some odd reason, the EQ seemed to start working.

I noticed the EQ didn't seem to be working last night and couldn't figure out why.  Because it was late, I figured I'd deal with it in the morning.  In the morning, they still weren't working and I thought, for some reason, it might be associated with it going to a drum bus so I rerouted them to Master with no difference.  So, I figured I would ask the question on this forum.

In the meantime, I experimented with the acoustic tracks as stated above.  Hopefully, things will continue working.  Maybe it was a anomaly in the software????

It's a long shot, but are you sure you haven't turned the ProChannel itself off by mistake?

That's what it sounds like to me. I've been duped by that more than once.

Hmmm.  That's a good question.  The buttons on the EQ were showing turned on as well as turned off when turned off.

I just checked several of the tracks and found at least one of them had the ProChannel turned off.  So, that appears to be what the problem was.  Thanks.

I was working on a track this morning, come to open it up just now and all EQs have reset themselves? not sure if its the same issue?

All the EQ settings are the same, but its as if the EQ is off but its on?

It appears to be on because the little blue lights (top right corner of the big screen) and the top right corner of the little screen are on.   However, if you scroll to the very top of the ProChannel, there is another little blue light which should show whether or not the whole unit is on or off.  (Correct me if I'm wrong -- I'm still learning my way around.)

Just like each PC module, the ProChannel itself has a power button. Hover over the ProChannel power button, the tool tip reads "Global Power." If the ProChannel Power button is not blue, the ProChannel is bypassed.

Yes, I've experienced this on X3c x64.  Made a post about it a while back but no replies.  The two things I did to restore EQ to the track in question (PC EQ worked on other tracks) was to turn off the 64-bit engine and to restart the project.  Not sure which if either worked, but upon restarting that project the EQ on that channel was back.  In my case, all the GUI worked properly, changing freq., Q etc., but there was no audible change in tone.  Worked properly after the restart.  Left the 64-bit engine off...
