Hi,

I need to buy computer monitors for my new daw (I just received it from ADK).
I am not sure what to buy. Monitors or a HDTV? One or Two? What size?
My graphics card is:
Radeon HD 7750 Fanless 900 MHz Core - 1 GB DDR5 SDRAM

Today, I went shopping (here in Mozambique the offer is quite limited compared to the US and Europe).
I found a few options:

1- 32" Samsung LED HDTV
2- LG IPS LED LCD MONITOR 27"
3- Monitor Sumsung Led 24" C750 2X HDMI FHD

I am used to having 2 monitors (current setup is 2 x 17") side by side.

I am more inclined to have only one LG 27" or two Sumsung 24".
But I am not sure if 2 x 24"s will be too much...

I know that 1920 x 1080 is the minimum resolution to go for, right?

Can you guys please advise?

Tomorrow morning I need to buy something to power on the new DAW.

It is truly a matter of personal choice.

I happen to have my primary display as a 46" HDTV, and have a 32" HDTV as a secondary display, and love it.

I have the track view and such on the primary display, and the Console View on the 2nd one.

Computer monitors will give you a bit better of a picture, but with Sonar I don't think it is any big deal, so I went with size/cost considerations, and HDTV reigns supreme in that.

I just installed a pair of 27" HP Pavilion 27bw and they are stunning. I paid $500.00 for the pair at Best Buy that were regularly priced at $700.00. I don't think you'll be disappointed with the quality as they have a very bright and distinct coloration that makes them exciting to look at.  I have used them for 6 months coming from 2, 22" Acers that I used for 5 years.

Hope this gives you some help.

I agree.

Get the absolute best you can afford, and the bigger the better, and 2 of them.

Thanks.
I guess I am going to go for two 24"'s. Just have to make sure they fit in my working space.
Just not sure how to connect two monitors on this new graphic card as it as 3 outputs: 1 x HDMI, 1 x DVI and 1 x DP.
If the monitor is only HDMI or DVI how do I connect two of them?

Bristol_Jonesey,

The problem is the space and the way my desk is positioned in the control room.
My setup now look like this (hope you can understand my "drawing"…) - My profile picture show a bit of the space...

                       <<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Window to Live Room>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
L Audio Monitor                                                                                                R Audio Monitor
                      VideoMonitor1&VideoMonitor2
                                                                 <<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>
                                                                 <<<<<<TASCAM DM-4800 >>>>>>
                                                                 <<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>
                                                                  <<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>
                                                                  <<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>

I don't know where to place 2 or 3 huge monitors.
If I place them behind the Tadcam Desk, I won't be able to see the live room.
So I guess I can't go bigger than two 24"s within this setup.

best,
joni

That's a very good point.

The 4800 isn't small by any stretch. Is it positioned on the desktop or sunk in?

Just throwing that thought at you.......

A pair of samsung 24" will cost be about $1100.
The samsung 32" HDTV would cost be about $450.
But I like the two monitor idea better...

Well, I paid $356 for my 46" HDTV, and $199 for my 32" one.

Lots cheaper than for regular computer displays.

I have two 23" monitors and love it.  Any bigger would further compromise my nearfield monitor's position relative to me.

I mostly have Sonar extended across both, using them as one very wide screen, but in some screensets have Console on one and Track View on another., or variations on these.
