I have Sonar Producer X3a loaded & running on my C: drive.
i have downloaded the X3c Update and when I run it (to install) either in regular mode or as administrator, i get a Setup window that says:
Cannot locate the required version of the program on this system. Please install the correct version of the program to use this patch.
i have also tried to install the X3b Update & get the same error message

Please download the producer patch (above the other two listed) assuming you are definitely running producer? (Help -> About).

Yup - sounds like you may have downloaded the update version for a different flavor of Sonar.
 
I concur on suggesting you revisit the support/download page, and make sure you pick the Producer patch.

meh! I got it figured out.
Although I did include it in the ticket i submitted to support, i forgot to include it in my post.

and it is Producer.
i thought maybe it was finding X1 or X2 - so i removed them from Windows - Programs. Still no luck.
I just D/L ProducerX3dPatch.exe and tried the update - same results.
 
Of course the fact that my Help/About did not mention the word "Producer" got me to thinkin'...
 
DANG! - so i spent $49 on the X2 to X3 upgrade - but have now realized that the $49 was for the X3 Essentials Upgrade. i was supposed to buy the X3 Producer upgrade for $149! I'm a Dufus. loaded Essentials right on top of my X2 Producer. tha's why the Producer Updates did not take. i now have to remove Essentials, Load X2 Producer back up - and try to work with Cakewalk to credit me the $49 and pay the additional $100 for the right version. boy, is my face red - it's 2:30am - and i have work ahead of me.

Cakewalks sales are usually very good about these sorts of issues and will work with you to get you the product your want. Without being disadvantaged. All the best.
