Andrew - I'd like to see something closer to what Brandon has done in the past.

If showing some feature, how about sounding interested in it? How about letting the video watcher hear what happens when you use the feature?

What I mean is Brandon, although super talented, comes across as "one of us" - somebody who uses the tool - and here's something cool you can do with it. Street savvy and expressing advice while showing off a feature.

Since Brandon no longer helps Cakewalk with these, the team that makes the CakeTV videos sound like they are reading a script and it's a textbook. I suspect the narrator has never used Sonar. He certainly doesn't let you hear anything he's describing.

Although my comment is a dash critical of the recent marketing videos from Cakewalk, I actually am a huge fan of Cakewalk and Sonar X3. I'd just like the marketing demos to really demo rather than talk over features. When Watching a Brandon demo I get really inspired and I feel almost like buying extra copies of Sonar just so I can do all the cool stuff. So bland versus motivating - please make demos that show us possibilities and can motivate us because it's so cool and easy to use.

Although I think there should be more videos beyond the basics, a quick look at the blog or the responses to questions on here are strong indicators there are several staff members that really know their stuff when it comes to applying X3 to real usage.  Dan and Jim immediately come to mind. I would go as far as to say that Dan's blog articles have been far more useful to me than the videos.  So they have people there capable of creating great instructional material for all levels.  Perhaps they hold back some to allow third party instructional sources to have some room?

As for videos I would like to see:

A walkthrough of a truly transformational remix.  Something along the lines of taking a ballad and turning it to a dance track.  I think that would show off a lot of tools within Sonar. Things like time stretching, melodyne and effects would be on display beyond the theoretical.

A video focused on staff view. We see a lot on this forum what the staff view can't do.  Perhaps showing what it can do with some detail may be of use.  This video would include some practical workarounds for nagging issues some may face.

A series of genre based tutorials. Any DAW can create any style of music, but sometimes it is hard to see that when it seems so much easier with more specialized DAWS. I know this may draw some groans, but a "Creating dubstep in X3" video may not be a bad idea. Susbstitute "dubstep" with any other reasonably popular genre and you get the idea. This may be too large of a task for Cakewalk alone since there are so many genres, but user created content may work here. I can see why you would be reluctant to go user created ones as chuck suggested, but I'm sure there's a middle ground.  Perhaps a contest  along the lines of "Create fantastic X3 tutorial" and win some small prize.  Publish only the winners and categorize them. So many possibilities.

Best practices videos outlining the less exciting to some but very practical topics like gain staging, controlling phase, harmonics and how to fix problems with such things in Sonar.  i realize that it's not Sonar's responsibility to turn everyone into a master audio engineer, but some quick tips may help the hobbyist immensely.

I do like cake TV's videos, I just thing the narration could use some work.
its well written but its monotone, I don't want to say boring, but sometimes reading from a manual wont teach users as much as explaining it at a level they understand and at a decent pace.

I assume you're talking about that guy who sounds like a professional voiceover artist. I have to agree. I'm an actor myself (which explains why I'm so sporadic about music) and I'd be more than happy to get involved in doing voiceovers for tutorials. Being a Sonar user, I think I have a better idea of how and where emphasis should go, how to turn phrases so they don't sound like I'm selling soap, etc.
All I need is a script.
