How in the heck can you get the file to start downloading using Free Download Manager?  When I drag the download link to the FDM icon....it only downloads the webpage link....NOT the file itself.

I can not download the file without using a download manager.  My phone keeps disconnecting from the internet and I have to be able to resume the download.

Hi Ted

Sorry what update file and what exactly is the download manager? And what sort of phone?
Why are you using a phone? I guess you have no choice?
IMO download managers should be avoided like the plague, but I'm not sure what you mean really (so forgive the generalist comment).

Thanks..

Hey Alex,

I get internet thru my cell phone.  It's usually really fast, until I try to download a large file.  When I try to download a large file, the download will start....then all of a sudden my phone will disconnect.  And with Windows download...it will not resume where the download left off.  It has to start the download over again...which then will stop after a short amount of time.
With a download manager....you can resume a download from where it left off...which is what I have to be able to do.

With most downloads, you can just drag the download link to the Free Download Manager icon and it will start the download with no problems.  But with Calkwalk's download...it has to open a new browser window which totally messes up the download manager.  It only download the website link....not the actual download.

What free download manager are you using (most are cr*p to be honest)... And the download manager is on your cellphone or windows?

So I researched and found this, people rave about downloadthemall (I've never used it):

BTW I don't recommend installing any download manager on normally stable connections, but I totally understand your use case.
Another thing to do is try the firefox browser which is particularly good at downloads.

Cheers

Firefox is what I'm using.  Problem is...the downloads will not "resume" when I get disconnected.  I have to start all over...which in turn causes the disconnect again.

Free Download Manager is a software that I have installed on my laptop.  Lots of people use it, and it seems to be pretty popular.

I have used "Free Download Manager" numerous times with perfect success.  It's just that Cakewalk's download links are not actual downloads...they are links to open up another page....then start the download.  This is what causes my problem.  I can not access the file download directly.

I actually have the file downloading now....through my neighbor's wifi.  They let us use their wifi...but since it's in the house next door...the signal is really poor, which makes download speeds incredibly slow.

It's showing a download time of about 2.5 hours with their wifi.  On my phone (if I could use a download manager) I could get the file with 20-30 minutes.

I use my phone for most all of my internet connection needs.  It's actually really fast...as fast as most DSL.  And it works fine until I start trying to download a large file.
