I just felt like it, that's why 
 
Everyone is saying hit cancel, but selecting modify seems to have worked just as well, at least Melodyne is working in my X3d and it didn't ask me for no serial number.

Nobody mentions selecting Modify in that thread. Bristol Jonesey just says he didn't hit cancel, he doesn't specify which option he did select.

Ah OK! lol - I thought you were pointing me toward an explanation of what the "modify" option did, because admittedly I have no idea. My reasoning was that I didn't need to "repair" or "uninstall" Melodyne, so this was the least illogical option.

I went the same route and everything installed and ran, as far as I know, correctly.
