Edit -> Preferences -> Configuration
I noticed in X3D my ThreadSchedulingModel was set to 1.
I changed it to 2 (I think X2A was set that way at least).
If you have a quadcore and above you might want to check this.

I've had it set to 2 in X2. With all the cores and speed I have I thought it couldn't hurt to have another helper thread.
