Hi peeps

This is another one I wasn't going to bother posting here, but, what the hell, I was surprised at how many kind peeps listened to my ambient track last time, so, here goes.

Void was created as part of a challenge given at a forum I discovered a couple of weeks ago. The challenge was to create something using just one single sample, which could be tampered with how ever much you like, and what ever effects you like. No other instruments/samples are allowed.

This was a complete departure for me, as I normally either create my own samples (by recording my guitar for instance) or play/program synths.

Again, I used a wave stretching tool called Paul's Extreme Sound Stretch, along with Sound Forge, to mangle/alter the given sample. Effects used were Breverb, Timeless, Tantra, Guitar Rig, Saturn and Absynth (for the granular effect).

This is my effort, called Void:-

And this was the supplied sample:-

You may require a bit of cognitive behavioural therapy after listening to Void, so, sorry about that

cheers

Considering the quite limited range of the sample for all its content I think you did a very cool job.

Thanks for sharing

Lots of mojo in this one. I would describe it as powerful , intense and theatrically engaging!

Great stuff Andy!

Ha! Hiya Reg . You managed to get all the way through it then? If so, well done... you deserve a medal

Thanks so much for listening and leaving a comment

Hi Wookiee,

Thanks for that comment dood, and for listening to Void. It can't have been easy

I had to listen to all that sample mangling and mixing over and over and it nearly sent me over the edge LOL!

cheers

Wow! Tim... I wouldn't have thought you'd like this one... It is so, well, dissonant in places and it just seems to go on relentlessly in parts.

I suppose your "intense" comment has it nailed... And, yeah, even "theatrically engaging" too. Funny that, cos as I am typing this, I've powered up Void and, having not listened to it for half a day now, it does get to the end quicker than the seven minutes suggests...

Thanks for listening Tim, and for leaving a comment. I appreciate that, as always

cheers

Taking into account that you were restricted to one sample this is a great ambient track. I could see this as an underscore for a film/documentary. Good stuff.

Hi Andy,

More cool stuff. This is one that sucks you in and you have to listen too.

Sorry I have not been around much. I been working like a mad man as of late. Played a couple of gigs out of town.

Just closed on a cattle ranch up north of here and had to work on the tractor. To much like work...lol

Cheers Mate,
