I don't care how large my new monitor will be (it should now be a 40" 4K about 17lbs.), I would still like to rotate it 90 degrees to portrait mode.  I'm wondering if anyone that already has a large monitor is using it with a mounting arm they could recommend (my current one is barely usable at 11lbs, but it's an old type).

Then I would just add an adapter to convert from 100mm x 100mm to 200mm x 200mm - like this:

I award this reply as my big laugh for today.  

I predict this thread turns south very quickly.

My 30" is on a mounting arm which is a rotating type. I've never rotated it though (for me I don't have any need for portrait mode).

Well, squirrel porn looks best in landscape mode anyway. 

Mine is a little Merrimac using a mounting stand ... its competition was of the rotating type.




 
 

So far the new monitor IS a big improvement, but I can't get it above 1920x1080 with my current video card (which is supposed to do TWO monitors at 2560x1600 each, I guess it means from the DVI ports not HDMI?).
 
Finally figured out how to get the sound to work so that saves some desk space with the separate speakers off.
 
Next, find a suitable monitor arm and then a better video card!  Yay.

Personally I wouldn't use a clamp style arm with a monitor that big. Murphy is never far away. Best to have it permanently mounted, like with screws or bolts... or duct tape.

Along with a adapter VESA plate to convert from 100mm x 100mm to 200mm x 200mm.
 
It should work for what I want it to do.
