Hi... just wondering what programs do people add to the utilities menu?

I've just added Wavosaur and it works quite well.... but maybe some people have a unique approach to this feature in Sonar...

I add things like wave editors and some special programs like iZotope RX. For doing destructive editing rather than Sonars non-destructive editing.

Cool...

What kind of programs can be integrated...   ie can a third party notation program be added and pass the data back as with the audio?

I use Adobe Audition 3.01, bit of a pain to get in SONAR 64 as you have to modify the registry, but once done, it works quite nicely.

Any program can be added to the utility menu. Programs that take a file name as a command line argument can operate on audio files in a SONAR project. I am not sure notation programs fall into that class of programs.

I don't think so, the file name in the command line reference is probably what ever files the program saves and not a wave file. It is possible to test a program by running it at the command line with what ever command line arguments you wish.

Did you have to do anything special ion Sopnar or RX to get this to work? I have used Adobe Audition from the Utilitiy menu without any problems. In X3 trying to call RX3 Advanced I get an error message from RX3. I forget the exact message but it is something about not being able to use the folder. If I click ok it will usually work. The file opens, I edit and then tell X3 to use the new file when I return. But if I have a file already at that I edited previously and haven't deleted RX3 opens the old file instead of the new one. Sorry for lack of specifics. I'll post details when I am at my DAW and can generate the error to get the specifics. I thought if you had run into this problem you might remember the problem and what you did to avoid it. I'm guessing that it is a setting in RX3.

Thanks,
Don

I exported the Sound Forge key from the registry and edited it with notepad to reflect the appropriate location for RX then double clicked it and it gets written to the registry.
