Sounds good to me Walt

Does being a subscriber allow you to upload a new song file? Or am I missing something as a free user?

Hey Andy, apparently being a "Pro" user does let me do new versions without using stats.  I guess I took it for granted, but it's not able to be done with their free accounts.

Cheers Walt,

I'm going to stick with free for now... I just cannot justify the additional expense, as small as it may be.

It's less apparent now Walt which I think is better, but TBO I would go even more minimal if it were me. Heck I would have probably removed it even..but I understand if you are a drummer. It makes more sense now that this would sound "in place" to your ears. My crits aren't worth much. I can only say what I'm personally hearing.

Thanks again Tim.  I do appreciate your time and your thoughts, however, I think I'm calling this one done at this point.  I have spent literally 4+ hours auditioning snare sounds (and even non-snare sounds).

I'm sorry that you (and others) apparently don't enjoy the rhythmic counterpoint.  It's not exactly the same thing, but here's one of the songs that I'm kind of "going for".  It's called "Sixtyniner", by Boards of Canada (one of my favorites) :

Beautiful piece of music.  Does just what the title says it should do.

Walt, this is great.  I  listen to chill a lot, particularly at my day job, and this would fit right in.

I didn't hear the earlier versions but the snare sits in this mix perfectly.

Thanks for sharing.

Hey Walt...sorry have been really lazy lately not listening to much here on the forum...trying to make up for it today...Ok the mix is good but the master is a bit loud...for me...this sort of music should be gentle IMO...I don't know if it's a mix problem i.e. not getting the gain stage right...if you have the gain stage right you can generally still get a really loud and big master without it sounding like it's too loud.  There is too much energy in the low-mid's and mid's for me and the snare is a little boxy although it gets better once all the other instruments kick in.  Try lowering all the instruments a tad IMO and work on the snare just a little more.  But it's a nice dreamy track!

Peace Ben

I'd say the latest snare is the end of the trail, the holy grail. Got it.

Thanks Walt for the chill-out, where less is waaaay more.

cheers,
-Tom
