Clint,

This song has a cool, slinky pop-rock groove, with a late 70's vibe. Great guitar tone and sound. The song is real good and has a classic feel. The vocals are smooth and well recorded.

Good stuff.

Cheers,

Bert

All sounds good to me Clint... I can hear all the different element clearly...

Nice song... great guitar work, as per usual...

Yeah, what's not to like.

I hope that wasn't too smokey

I love your usual slow groovy drums and guitars, as always.  The EP is a particularly sweet addition on this one.  Nice!

Sounds excellent on my monitors, Clint.  The snare crack is really nice in this song.  Not blowing smoke, but I have been digging your Strat tones so much on the last few songs, that you have me GASing for an MIA Strat again.

I am not really hearing anything that I would suggest changing.  Much more, I am really liking the tunes you are putting out lately.  I have already marked this one for my play list.  Great Job!  Wish I could find something to nit at, but.......

Thanks, Michael. That is the Southern Soul kit from Toontrack, played by Randy Treadway on an Octapad. I hope everyone feels free to critique the mix. (it helps a lot!) I know the playing could be better (as always), but we were going for a live feel. The recording was quick and sloppy, but I spent a lot of time editing and mixing.

I was wondering if it was "that" song with the Soul Kit.  Drums sound really nice.  Git sounded pretty good to me, either you edited a LOT, or your slop is pretty descent.  Wish I could "slop" that well.

I agree, though, there are others hear with better ears than mine.  I know you are looking for an advanced critique.

nice clint!

agree with bert,
on the influences shaking the 70's groove,

eagles, boz scaggs,

it's a cool laid back vibe,
nice performances, in the pocket.

the drum kit sounds good,
though i want to hear more high end across the whole kit;
from about 2khz up, and especially around 8-10k,
it sounds dull to me.

i don't know if this has been 'mastered' or not,
because that alone, could fix the frequency imbalance,
because it needs more presence,
but without adding any harsh.

i think the guitar solos would sound better with LESS gain (think jay graydon on 'peg'),
seems a bit too hot for the sound of the song as a whole,
but well played, wouldn't change any of the actual performance

I honestly wish I could Clint... Unless it is something blindingly obvious, in which case, you'd have caught it before you went live...

Sorry, but I will only ever to be able to say, "great guitar!" Or something equally as lame, but I at least want to say that, than say nothing...

cheers

Ya know...that's almost exactly where I made a EQ cut in the drums, and I was thinking the same thing about the guitars. Too much gain. This has only been mastered by me and will be easily fixed. My drummer has some ideas too...I told him to wait until I have enough for a proper cd when I can master the whole and we will make some more changes then.
Good ears Bat. Thanks for the ideas.
