Thanks! I added a YouTube link. YouTube sounds a little better I think.

some time ago, Youtube started to process the audio from the video uploads (iic they're still doing so).
right after loading it will sound like the uploadfile
but then overnight or so, they run it through a preset compression thing and it get's very dull, imo.
I've skipped this Youtube processing tool ones or twice I think by pure luck..

Clint,

Sounds really good to me.  I like the song a lot too.  Mix is good, nothing that can't be tweaked during the mastering process, i.e. a little more 8-10k, etc...   Reminds me a bit of the Eagles......

I listened to the YouTube version . . .

Clint, I don't think Sarah's going anywhere if you keep writing and mixing songs as well as this. Really really well done.

Love the Snare!

There are sections where the ride cymbal plays a lot but it's a very static pattern. You might throw a triplet in there once in a while on the bar.

The very end cymbal got squashed a little, you might look at that.

Did I miss a bridge? Then it WOULD be cool '70's in all its glory!

Holy cow, great song, love the mix, no crits from me there.

cheers,
-Tom

Thanks for the comments and for listening! I did think about adding a bridge, but it was already getting a bit long and I didn't want to cut what was there. As far as the ride goes...I kind of left all drum decisions up to my drummer Randy. He's a minimalist by nature. I had to lobby pretty hard for the crashes that are in there!

Liked it a lot -- can't fault anything with it from my setup.  Took the opportunity to listen to some of your other stuff on SoundCloud.  Really dig The River Song.  I am always impressed when an instrumental is able to hold interest all the way through like that.

Noisy Neighbour
just tuned in on time for a new Clint Martin original...
Cool tune with a nice flow! Great performance and mix translates really well over here!
I think all tweaks would be just a matter of taste.

Best regards,
Daniel

Ha! I've had to "lobby" with a drummer as well! It's a pretty tough go sometimes! But your drummer plays very well and has excellent timing for the things he? is doing, so that's all good. Have him listen to Pete Ray Biggin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qppPJAul2g

Well, He used an Octapad with Kick and Hi hat pedals to record through EZ Drummer 2 and we used the new Southern Soul EZX...so I did have the piano roll to make his timing sound like Neil Peart! Hahaha! He was actually very, very close and I didn't fix much. I try to leave the velocities alone as much as possible for example. We were not going for perfect.
