Hey guys! Check out this track I just finished.

The singer of my old band is now making movies and he had a track he wanted to use for the closing credits but didn't know what to do with it. He asked me to have a go at it... I was given a rough track with vocals, acoustic guitar and a drum machine.

I got the isolated vocal tracks and wrote new music for it; changed keys, chords and vibe but made it work with the vocals I was given.

There's not much in the way of guitars and I just used the scratch tracks I laid down when coming up with the idea. It's direct from my M4 using a JF Erect and my self modded SL2X. I was using WOS for cab emulation but the one part is raw direct sound; the nasty direct thing sounded cool in the track so I kept it like that.

Let me know what you think!

Hey Marco,
Guitars sound great! I'm hearing a bit of a fight between the vocals and the synth that's comping behind it. Might be resolved with some panning or light eq. Maybe  Alternately, you could probably beef up the lead vocal with a touch of ambience.

On the whole, though, sounds pretty great.

Thanks Mike! That's why I posted here; I knew I'd get some good feedback. I'm a bit out of practice at this stuff!

Hi Marco,

That's a great thing you have got going on there. I'm not qualified to comment on the mix, but the song is pretty damn good. Both male and female vocals sound so good... I'm impressed.

Is this the movie:-

Listened to this on my KRK VXT4's. Great song, not usually my thing this but I enjoyed listening to it. As mesayre has already highlighted there is a bit of fight going on at the beginning between the vocals and synth, maybe bring the synth down a bit in volume. Things then settle down nicely and the guitars blend well with the vocals and the stereo placement is good.

Thanks for listening, biodiode! I have the old KRK V8s. I hear you, I've never really worked on a song like this; my usual material has lots of offensive guitar.

Overall... cool tune!  Mix works for me overall, though as already mentioned the lead vocals do get a bit buried in spots.   If you can pan the synth outward a little I think that might help.   I also liked the short reprise at the end.
