  • X3 VST Scanning Issues - this is getting really old now !

I started a thread a while back asking for help with X3 Pro VST Scan missing plugins, in particular Sampletank and Miroslav. Both of these VSTs work fine in standalone mode, but were not picked up by the VST scan, so can't be added to plug in menu. I was advised by some to do a plug-in reset, which I did and it caused far more problems than it solved - lost authorisations, even more missing vsts and such. So, many hours and much re-installing and authorising work later I'm more or less back to where I was before the reset, but things are a little different.....

X3 still missed both Sampletank and Miroslav on scan. I have uninstalled, reinstalled to default locations (as it was anyway) and now it picked up Miroslav, but not Sampletank. They both still work just fine in standalone mode. If I try to insert Miroslav into a project in X3 it crashes every time. If I do the same in 8.5PE it works just fine, but still no Sampletank in 8.5.

Go back  to X3, try to insert Miroslav.......crash !!!

Also, EZ drummer which before the reset worked flawlessly is now listed in the scan as Dfh Sampler instead of Ezdrummer and this is what appears in the track name too. If I insert it into a project it brings up the EZ drummer interface, but says it isn't authorised. Insert the auth code and it works fine. Close the project, open another insert EZD and it says not authorised - so I have to reauthorise every time now. I have uninstalled and re-installed and it makes no difference.

Ever wished you hadn't bothered starting all this, I've avoided X series until now and I'm now beginning to wonder why I didn't continue to do so.

Any other suggestions anyone?

authorise ezd outside sonar? and maybe the name change is that new configuration setting that allows you to choose how the plug is named in the gui? good luck!

Are you using the 64bit version of 8.5 when testing the IK synths?

Starting with X2, there are several choices for the VST plug-in name format, controlled by a Cakewalk.ini variable VSTPlugInNameFormat set in Edit > Preferences > File > Initialization file. Valid values are 0, 1, 2, 3.
0 - Format 0:  VST supplied name which is the new default
1 - Format 1:  DLL Name which is the old behavior
2 - Format 2:  VST Plugin Name (DLL Name)
3 - Format 3:  DLL Name (VST Plugin Name)
After creating the variable, restart SONAR and the menus should display the new naming format.

Is there a way to do that ? I don't have any other DAW software and it isn't a standalone application as far as I know ?

Sorry, lack of info - knew I'd missed something out - doh ! Using 32 bit X3 and 8.5PE in win 7 64  - I have installed 64 bit X3 , but haven't even gone there there yet - just been trying to get X3 working as 8.5 was so far - thought I'd start with the easy bit - wrong !!

I'll try that format thing - didn't know about that - thanks.

BTW, if EZDrummer is showing up as Dfh, you may want to check which version of EZDrummer you are running. The current 64bit version is 1.3.3

It's 1.04 on the disc, so that is what is loaded - guess I should find a later version.....but........here's the spanner in the works   I just opened it in X3 64 and it works perfectly other than the track name showing as dfh sampler. Sampletank also works with no problem, but Miroslav although showing on the menu says that it cannot install as synth may be installed incorrectly. Still works ok in x3 32 though.

Am I supposed to see anything in the boxes there - they are just blank. Sorry if I'm being dumb.
