I have a Digitech RP255 that would be nice to use with Sonitus and other effects.

Thanks,

I'm not sure about the MIDI output capabilities of that pedal over USB.  A brief look at the manual wasn't encouraging.

Can Sonitus FX be controlled by a MIDI pedal?

Sure.  I still use the old-school method of Display -> FX -> Show Assignable Controls, with Remote Control / Learn on a targeted parameter.

You may have to use the MIDI Lear tool to get control over the effects with the RP unit.

Does it even output MIDI? The word "MIDI" doesn't appear in the manual.

This is why I ask. When Windows "found new (USB) hardware" it loaded the latest "MIDI" drivers for it, so I must wonder if it can be a controller.

I am awaiting an answer from Digitech's support team.

If NO, then I may have to invest in one that can - primarily for WAH and Volume. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Yes.

Soens, I'm uploading a video on how to use ACT with a midi controller to control pretty much any VST from TH2 (my example) to Sonitus.

Does not look like it. In the manual it says the USB port is designed to be used with editing software on a computer and the pedal can be used as sort of audio interface.

Why don't you really learn to use the Digitech processor to its full advantage. They are pretty good processors and can do all the WAH effects and many other things and probably better than the Sonitus effects anyway. Use the pedal for what it is intended.

What you want to do could probably be achieved by connecteing an expression pedal to something like an M Audio keyboard controller and then using ACT to assign the midi/USB signals to control whatever you assign it to.

If you don't want to get a keyboard controller with a pedal input there are things like this that allow you to connect a pedal directly to the midi data stream in your system:

Bad news everyone! Digitech says "The R255 cannot be used as a midi controller for a DAW."

So what's the MIDI drivers for then?!

Hook it up as a MIDI device, hit Record and see what gets recorded. My guess would be nothing. Maybe it accepts some limited MIDI input.

If you just want something for knobs, perhaps one of the little controllers from Korg or Akai will suit you. They're cheap and compact.
