Hi all,
Thinking of upgrading from Sonar X1 Producer to Sonar X3 Producer, (latest Version?)
I am a keyboard player and want to incorporate  acoustic guitar finger picking tracks into some of my projects.
I am pretty good at playing finger picking styles from my keyboard.
I would like to convert the sound from my keyboard into something that approximates an acoustic
I there a module INCLUDED with Sonar X3 producer or do I have to purchase this module separately?
Thanks,
Norm

There are synths that have acoustic guitar sound, but just the plain sound. The dedicated, third party guitar softwares are far better, as they imitate the various articulations, fret noises etc.

A lite version of AAS Strum Acoustic is included with X3 Producer.

In the future you may want to post questions about the X series products in the forum above this one. This forum is for older pre-X series versions of SONAR.

ASS strum is mainly for strumming, I can't recall if it has a solo/fingerpicked mode. The best acoustic guitar sounds in Sonar are in Dimension Pro. They can sound very good if played properly, but as Kalle says they do not include articulations etc.

For third party stuff Orange Tree's "Steel Strings" takes a lot of beating but it gets expensive because you need the full version of Kontakt.

I depends on how realistic you want the faux-guitar to sound, e.g. slides, mutes and other articulations. If it's prominently featured in the song, then you'll probably want to invest in a Kontakt-based third-party solution. But if it's not the featured instrument, TTS-1 and Dimension Pro both have serviceable acoustic guitar patches and you already have both.

Thanks people for all your kind responses!
NOW Seems obvious that I should just start with the basic X3 producer then go from there.
At this point I don't think I need special effects like string noise, slides and mutes,
Just a nice mellow acoustic sound similar to a gut-stringed Yamaha folk guitar.
Thanks again,
-Norm

What makes me smile is being a guitar player, who can cheat like hell emulating a keyboard and it will sound exactly like a keyboard...... ha ha.

Hey don;t rule out collaboration on the net with a real player, lots of good players are sometimes looking to do the distant recording thing. I believe the song forum here is a good place to ask.
