Hi - long time SONAR user here but brand new to "X" after living with 8.5 for a long time now - just got X3c on a brand new computer. Overall I'm liking it and it has some really cool features. I am having a few problems, however, and not having much luck searching the forums (I haven't been on the forum in years it seems).
Anyway - not sure if these are known issues or what, but here's an initial list after a few days working with it.
- The system hangs on audio export on some exports. This seems to be related to the 64 bit engine option. If it's on, some exports work, others hang and I have to force out. If 64 is off, no problems.
- Automation modes (overwrite/touch/latch) area great idea but don't seem to "Stick". For example, I'd have it in touch mode and it would work for awhile and then start exhibiting the overwrite mode behavior. It's like it forgets the mode or something?
- Just seems sluggish - in particular starting and stopping transport ... for example I hit stop (spacebar) and it keeps going for a second. Is this a setting somewhere?
- Multiple little issues with Melodyne essential. I plan to upgrade very soon to editor, but so far not working as well as Melodyne plug-in was working for me in 8.5 One issue is that the scroll bar cursor in Melodyne is never "synced" with the audio. Melodyne scroll line is always ahead of the audio. Also - it won't reliably stay sync'ed or scroll with the track view scroll. Sometimes they're on together, but sometimes Melodyne won't move to where I click and start in SONAR, and often Melodyne window won't scroll when playback gets to the end. I click around a bit and then maybe it will start working again - but no reliability there!
I know I have some learning curve here, and I suspect there's probably some things in config, ini, and preferences I need to work on. (Anyone have some sort of punch list for those?) But some of these issues, and I'm sure I'll have more, are of real concern. As a full time, pro studio, I have to have VERY low tolerance for stuff not working correctly or at least predictably.
Thanks for any responses. I'll keep reading and searching the threads too.
