  • V-Vocal Unavailable - Melodyne Plugin - Solved

So, I bought Assistant weeks ago, and just installed it yesterday (missed the upgrade to Editor offer for same price, maybe I can still get it).  Anyway, the Region Fx for Melodyne and V-Vocal are grayed out.  Melodyne shows up as 'Single Track' in the ReWire list, and as 'Melodyne' in the Audio Fx VST3 list.

I rescanned VSTs and that didn't make any difference.

I can insert Melodyne as an Fx Plugin, or as a ReWire Synth, but can't get any audio into Assistant, and none of the Region Fx menus are active.

I was using the trial version of Editor before, and both V-Vocal and Editor worked fine, both were available in the Fx Region menu.

Anybody experience this?

When you rescanned did you follow these instructions? http://www.cakewalk.com/S...reader.aspx/2007013315

Thanks.  I didn't Reset before, but just did and got the same result.  Melodyne's support page mentions
re-installing Sonar?

Re-install is a possibility, I would check with tech support. There have been a few threads regarding Melodyne missing from the FX Regions menu but the reset or scan failed plug-ins seemed to work.

V-Vocal is not part of X3 and would require a previous version of SONAR to be installed for it to be picked up. You would not need the full install of the older SONAR but a minimum install using the advanced option would get V-Vocal installed.

I contacted support.  I'll update this thread as I go.  Thanks again.

If you are in the US or have access to a reasonably priced service, phoning them in a couple of hours is the best way to get a quick answer.

Thanks scook.  This is probably operator error on my part.

I launched X3 and then opened an older X2 project file I knew had vocal tracks.  Some clips in those vocal tracks were processed with V-Vocal, but neither V-Vocal nor Melodyne were active.  Then, I copied a vocal clip from that project to a project created with X3, same thing.  But, I just opened an X3 project I know I used Melodyne and V-Vocal on, and I 'can' create both types of regions in that project.  Melodyne still shows up as a ReWire plugin though, not as a VST3 Synth, but I don't know if that is an issue.

This is not urgent.  I emailed Tech Support and will let you know.

Melodyne should not show up as a synth but as an effect. You can verify whether V-Vocal is installed, there should be 3 dlls and a Skin directory in "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared DXi\VVocal", in a 64bit install or similar layout in "Program Files (x86)" for 32bit.

Okay, I'll check.  Melodyne used to show up as a VST3 Plugin I think, the only one I have, not as a synth like I was saying earlier.  I only used it by going to the Region Fx, but when that wasn't available I opened the browser and no VST3's were listed and then my memory failed:)

This happened to me on a few older projects. I later found the cause was I was working in audio snap and didn't bounce to clip before I closed the projects. Bouncing the tracks got region effects back on line here.
