> +1 Hold CTRL while selecting the Color and it works here.

Of course the same behaviour exists with multiple pan pots.
What I'm missing is that CTRL-Select channel's major function is to select all the clips within tracks.
Doh!

Thanks for clearing that up.

Alex, I have been having this trouble too ! I was going to post something almost identical to yours last night but it got very late. Also, I have a folder with 14 tracks going to a drum bus. Expected behaviour - all tracks going to the drum bus change automatically to the same colour as the drum bus. Actual behaviour, no change whatsoever. I really dont see what gives here. We have the same code I think (X3C Producer 64bit) so like you, I am rather confused.

I think this one may be a problem with migrating projects from X2.  A new X3 project will behave properly - that is, the track colors will follow bus colors - but one migrated from previous versions will not.

Is that your case as well?

Select your tracks then while holding CTRL select the color. Do not release CTRL until after the color is selected.

How about this:  When I clone a  track for multiple instances in track view, I expect all the clones to have the same color on the color-selection bar of the track (the part to the very left of the track number).  But that color-selection bar is always red on a cloned track.  If I click on the color-selection bar for each of the cloned tracks, the expected color appears.

I think you might have nailed it here Brian. Basically I was setting up three different song templates last night, each of them used a template or track I pulled in from an existing X1Expanded or X2 project as a starting point.

I have just set up a new template from scratch, and all behaving as it should. Also, I pulled up one of my problematic templates from last night, and that is acting OK too, I guess that is because I saved it as a template in X3 after doing my work on it. Is this a bug or not? I dont know, what I would say is, if you are pulling up a pre X3 project, and having trouble with colouring multiple tracks simultaneously, just save it in X3 first, perhaps save and close and then reopen, then all should be OK

Thanks a lot, I hope this helps others too. I was going insane last night reading the PDF manual and not getting behaviour as expected.

My issue is resolved. If you are getting an issue whereby there is different behaviour with projects from older versions of Sonar and you can reproduce this every time, may I suggest writing down the specific steps (like what I wrote in #1) so it is extremely clear, and sending the problem to Cakewalk as there could be other unrelated issues that could stem around this... The first step would be something like Create new project in Sonar X1 with three audio tracks then save for instance.

Cheers..

It's definitely a lot more consistent with projects started in X3
