Hi guys, super annoying issue here.
I've installed the X1d patch on my Sonar Expanded and ever since I have issues on Kontakt 5.
Basically all instruments are loaded and I can play along (reharsing a take) or record on Sonar.
When I press "Stop" on X1 either on the screen or via the MIDI controller, Kontakt 5 stops all sounds and I'm forced to hit the Kontakt "reset audio engine", shown as a big exclamation mark.

I have already spend a week with Native Instruments support on the phone and they even took a log of my machine system configuarion (quite a clever tool those guys have actually).   And in the end the fault, according to them, sits with Cakewalk.

I've tried to downgrade to X1c but at this point my registries must have been changed for good and I really don't want to whipe Sonar from my machine and start over.

Any ideas anyone?  I can still do my work, but it's incredibly annoying having to reset the engine in Kontakt some 200 times a day!!!!

Thanks
Max

Welp,  my K5 is working pretty well.  It is the buggyiest part of my system,  but it works well enough.  I get notes that hang-up and won't stop with some of the bigger libraries (cinemtic strings 2.0).

Here is something I needed to do,  I'm not sure it will help as I can't see me knowing more than the NI people,  but..in K5,  Go to options>memory>Preload Instrument buffer size and move that up to higher than 128megs.

Also,  this helped someone else,  make sure you are loading the correct version of K5.  I was loading the 32 bit version in my 64 bit machine and having ton's of trouble.  Are you running 32 or 64 bits? And are you loading the correct K5?

Can you test K4 and see if that works?  I run multiple instances of Kontakt with little trouble.  Sometimes I run K3.5, K4 and K5 in the same file because it is easier to find some instruments that way.  K5 is by far the most quirky.

I uninstalled K4 as I thought it was creating a conflict but can put it back on no problems.

K5 is definitely the correct version and the x64.  I'm running Windows 7 x64 with Sonar X1 expanded in x64.

I'll check the instrument buffer size though. You never know.   Although my problem occurs not only with the big libraries, but also with the smallest patches I have.

My CPU, RAM and DISK meters are all below 10% at all time on everything (PC, Sonar and K5).   I really don't get it.

Ran into similar thing the other day with Sonar run/stop engine light going off (audio engine stopping) every time I hit the space bar. To fix it, I checked (play effects tails after stopping) in the preferences. (I've had other reasons to uncheck this box... e.g. effect tails in buffer pasting to the front of bounce down) Strange thing, I checked in sonar right now and I don't have it checked and it's working as expected. You might try it though.

YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!!!!

"Play effects tails after stopping".   Such a silly tick in the preference menu that caused so much aggravation.

So happy it's over!

1,000,000 thanks everybody!

AAAAAARGHHHHHHH.

This is like when in the movies they think they killed the shark/alien/monster or whatever only to realise the bugger is still there.

Nope, issue still there.

I'm installing K4 as I type to compare.  Watch this space....

After a night of more tests and installations I can tell you this:

- Blogman's suggestion on the "Play effects tails after stopping" has fixed the problem for all libraries but 1

- The issue still persists with Cinematic Strings 2.   Since this can't be installed on K4, I can't even make a comparison with that to see if it works.    So.....as an alternative, I'm thinking of downloading some demo version of another DAW and test Kontakt with that to at least see if the problem is being caused by Sonar,  K5 or the library itself.

I'll report on any progress and try not to shoot my PC.

So much time wasted around issues and configurations these days instead of making music!

Yea CS 2.0 is a great program,  but I have problems with it also.  I get notes that won't turn off, so I have to slide my hand over the keys to find the offending note.  Sometimes that does not work..so I open up the CS 2.0 gui to the appropriate instrument and turn the articulation off and back on again (usually the legato patch)

Let me know what you find.

Thanks
