I don't think reading it that way makes a difference...(funny works)...it's all history anyway and we know how people screw that up.
No matter how it's read the part that means the most to me is "I stopped performing". One of the best decisions I've ever made and immediately after doing so I knew I should have done it sooner. About a decade sooner. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.
