My PC is only a few months old so I only have X1 Producer Expanded and X3 Producer installed. If I wanted to also install Sonar 7 Producer and 8.5 Producer can I do that? I wouldn't have to uninstall everything and then in reinstall each program in order would I?

The only reason I want to do this is that there's some stuff I vaguely remember from version 7 that I want to refer back to.

Cheers

Each version installs (and runs) separately, so you can install older versions. I installed SONAR 7 Pro on this machine to check something after I had X1d loaded. I think I forced it to install to folders I do NOT use now to make sure it didn't overwrite any plug-ins on me though.

I have heard others report problems with installing earlier versions on top of newer versions.  I have not done it myself, so cannot comment personally.

I think it had something to do with older versions replacing newer components with older ones.  I guess not even Cakewalk can be forwards compatible.  As I said, though, this was only on the advice of others, as I have no personal experience.

Hmmmmm 3 replies that make me a bit wary. I think what I'll do is install 7 and 8.5 on my laptop until I find what I wanna find then leave it at that.

Thanks guys!

A related question if I may.  I upgraded from X1P to X2P but never installed.  Now I've installed X3cP.  I understand X2 had R-Mix, but X3 does not, so I'd like to add it from the X2 downloads.  Does anyone remember which install file(s) contain it, and whether I can select for it alone.  (I don't recall whether the custom install option permits installation of a single plug, but maybe it does?)  And is this also a bad idea?

Thx, Ron

You have to download all 4 parts of the SONAR_X2_Producer to run the advanced install in order to get R-Mix.

To the OP, SONAR installers only overwrite older files. That is one of the reasons files and registry entries have to be removed before reinstalling the same version. That said, I perform advanced installs when adding older versions selecting the components to install.

Ok, thanks, yes, I have all 4 parts.  The question then is can I select for only R-Mix (and absolutely nothing else)?  From your post to the OP, sounds like my concern about whether doing so would jeopardize the existing X3 install is unfounded.
