The Melodyne Editor upgrade will definitely work in PT11. And it seems to work just fine - although after using the ARA integration in Sonar Melodyne is somewhat annoying to use in PT.
Funny. I was never even tempted to try Studio One to get ARA integration of Melodyne. I figured it was no big deal. I was used to the "transfer" method of using Melodyne and didn't think it really would make that much difference. After using X3 for a while I now see that ARA integration is a much nicer way to work. Strange - I seem to have far fewer PT projects now that X3 is here. And with the speed with which PT has historically been updated to catch up with their competition it will probably be a LONG time before they have ARA.
How long did Sonar (and others) have 32-bit (say nothing of 64-bit) audio, Clip Gain, 64-bit OS support, etc. before PT got on board? PT does admittedly have some nice features. It seems virtually every DAW has a few features (based on individual preferences and workflow) that are useful/attractive/interesting. Sonar may not be the first to offer some of these enhanced workflow features but often they are. Or quite quickly offer something as good or even better. Even though most of us would admit that we could easily make music with the feature set that has been available with most DAW's for several years it certainly keeps things interesting and more fun to see and use the new features (such as ARA) that are offered. Personally I think Sonar is as progressive as any DAW when it comes to new features. I look forward to each new release of Sonar - knowing that there will be something that I find useful (or indispensable) that I didn't even know I needed. ARA integration of Melodyne was one of them.
