  • How Can I Change Behavior during recording with Lanes?

This is becoming a pain and I'm hoping there's a switch I can't find...

I am in sound on sound mode recording...
I have set up a loop for the area I'm working on and extended both the beginning and the end of the loops to catch the boundry issues...

The problem?

The section (mostly dead air) that the new recording overlaps gets split and muted.... I don't want that and it's making either a mess or extra work for me to fix after the fact...

Is there a switch to change this behavior? I sure hope so....

Double-check your recording mode. That sure sounds like Comping. And it's a Project setting, so having set Sound on Sound in another project won't be applicable to the current one.

Thanks brundlefly...

I have double checked that a number of times before posting as it was my suspect... I was in sound on sound mode in the specific project... But it was doing many anomalous things... I posted one of the (audio on track but not Lane) other issues... Then suddenly, the lanes re-ordered themselves placing Lane 1 on top instead of bottom of the 3 lanes... And was again showing the audio where it shoul be...

At the same time it started behaving sound on sound again... So something intermittent is going on... I just haven't figured out how to bug this up for a report...

This project is somewhat bare bones right now (data) having a MIDI track driving SD3, an empty set of tracks setup for the VSampler3 which I use to run my preferred bass, and an audio track with Ampitube 3 which is where these problems are happening...

I had to break for a client consultation, but I will be back at that puce in an hour or two.... Well see what's going on next...?

Thanks for jumping in to help as you do so often and well!

When I tested it in my recent thread on Take Lanes, I saw the same behavior and posted a screenshot. I've just run the same test now, but, strangely, it's working fine this time. No splits and no muted clips. I even tried it without extending the beginning and the end of the loops, and both with audio/midi tracks and with a simple instrument track, with input quantize enabled. The only problem I see this time is that I can only hear some of the notes I recorded in previous takes while I'm recording.

I believe I mistakenly forgot to switch to the Sound on Sound mode last time.
