It's time for a reformat of my C Drive, which means I will have to reinstall everything. With Komplete I have all the content on a different drive than the system drive (same for Dimension Pro). Anyone have any tips on how to reinstall Komplete, will I have to install all the samples and content again even though they are on a different drive? Or can I just install the synths and vsts. I know I should ask this in the NI forums, but I like it here better.

I'm not sure if you "have to" but if you have Ultimate I think it'd be a lot simpler and quicker to just reinstall. I ran the installer from disk twice and it's a fire and forget, apart from the updates afterwards (which you'll mostly have to do anyway). A lot less hassle than manually redirecting all synths and libraries to the right place, I would think, not to mention fussing with the installer to decide which bits you do need to install and which you don't. So unless you planned on sitting at the computer and fixing all those links, I would say click the button and go have some lunch or something.

With Komplete it's more like grab an ocean cruise and then come back to check it;s progress :)

Mine completed in an hour or two I think? I just went and did something else. Or just do it overnight.

Tell me about it. I just received Komplete 9 Ultimate it a few hours ago. I'm sitting here cloning the hard drive to my server before I use it for the first time, 2 hours of a five hour job to go so far. I haven't even been able to run the install yet and I'm just looking at my new mashcine studio waiting for me to feed it software :(

Haha :)
The harddrive is actually only backup. It's of course a good idea to keep an extra one, but you only really use it to install. You won't need to keep it connected to use Komplete or anything.

It took me about 2 hours on the original install, but then you have to activate things, download updates etc. That takes a lot of time as well. It was soooo worth it. I love Komplete.

Just the synths, Vsts and Updates and you'll be fine. (Aslong as you know where your Libs, Samples and Presets are)

On a reinstall once I lost all my presets as most of them were in c:\windows\commonfiles\*Native Instruments Instrument*

I do know where the libraries are (1tb E Drive) so it would just be a matter of pointing the synths there like Battery & Kontakt once they're up.

I just went through all this when setting up my new PC. Recently there were 20 or so updates which took a few hours to download, decompress and install.

I'm not sure but I think the synths and fx updates are all full installers so you may not need to use your disc at all.

Just try with one and see. Why? Because if you install from disk you have to do the updates anyway, this way you may be able to avoid that whole process. Just check where they all get located by comparing to your old setup.
