Exactly.  Even if you like it, you can't buy it.

I've thought about downloading a trial also. In case it somehow becomes possible to do something (legally) with it later. what happens after the trial is over? does it just dissolve, go away, or is it still there, but inaccessible? I've done trials before, but I always uninstalled them before the expiration date.

My thoughts were - if i download it - who/what is going to terminate it. Yes it cant be purchased but the trial is there waiting for me to download it. Is it worth a shot? Will it interfere with my other Sonar programme?
 

It shouldn't interfere. But if you installed it from Command Center, make sure you uninstall it correctly via Command Center. I failed to do that once, and it did cause some problems. (I uninstalled it, but not via CC). In any case, if you have any concerns, make a system image before you install to be on safe side.

Yes.  I seem to remember a few years ago people were having trouble after installing the demo. 

Did you know you can get a free copy of the latest Home Studio. Go to the Software forum for details. 
You just gave me an idea for an experiment. 
 
Only bummer is I don't think you get any of the things like Melodyn and AD2 with the demo.

Those items required separate account registration and activation codes at their respective vendor websites.  Those codes were made available in your account after purchase of Sonar.

It gets terminated because it's "built" into the code. It's not a person or thing that terminates it. I am just commenting because you seemed to imply that because of all this hullabaloo maybe the program will continue to function.....It won't.
