ProjectM, thanks for taking that with the pinch of salt it was intended with.

I'm quite aware that I'm in a minority with my belief / understanding that switching between vertical and horizontal is pointless brain gymnastics. (as evidenced by the fact that there are now no DAWs whatsoever that do not require you to do so).

It'd be fine if the default X1 presented, what appears to be the majority preference, no useful tools (reach for that salt seller again!). But at least give us the option to add them back.

I'm quite happy to root around for a little while and tweak my setup to suit my needs (and with an application as deep and various in it's possible uses as Sonar even Cake acknowledge that those needs and uses are broad a,nd often even contradictory). I'm not asking for the Reaper level of geekery whereby I have to design my own knobs and faders, but I do value being able to pick and choose what appears where and in which order.

He he, good. I don't mind the tweaking and there are some really good suggestions here. I just think my patience on emotional based arguing around here is getting thinner and thinner;) There are too many issues being raised with no real basis in reality (I'm not going to bother with examples, just visit This link to see what I mean) and they seem to get too much attention.

Well, I think I'll actually take a break from the forums and check back in when X1b is released;)

Happy arguing and have fun

UnderTow

Here is another version. Again, Track 2 is the original. Track 1 is edited in various ways:

Undertow, this continuing to shape up nicely. Just to clarify, what's the idea with 'input' 'output' will this be replaced with the name of the soundcard in / out / Buss name when selected? How does one know what the routing is for the channel?

Would you be able to throw a couple of sends in as well so we can see how they fit in to the mix?

Cheers,

Thanks.

That is exactly right. Input / Output are the names of some imaginary sound card I/O. I might change that to reflect the fact that with this design long names are clearly visible.
Would you be able to throw a couple of sends in as well so we can see how they fit in to the mix?
Certainly. I'll play around a bit with that.

I really like the idea of being able to change the color of the in/out in the TV header. It would make it a ton easier to see on the fly.

I guess it´s time for a complete GUI redesign.

Or at least to retrieve the baby that got thrown out with the bathwater!

Here is a version with a Send to the Metronome bus.

I think someone commented earlier that it wouldn't wrap well when narrowing it down. Surely it would be possible for the frames to shrink down as the view narrows?

That'd solve that wouldn't it? It's much easier to see what's what in your version.
