Hey guys,

Been messing around with Lounge Lizard and a few other softsynths to try and achieve this type of organ sound

I just can't get there.  Theres no traditional ADSR on LL and I can't seem to get that washy alive and moving sound that is the backdrop to the track above.

Any players out there happen to offer some advice on it?  Its beyond me at the moment ;<

Thanks in advance!

The Rhodes are so quiet on that song I would perceive just about any sound to be honest (perhaps I'm deaf). There's plenty of reverb on it though that much I do know.

Dim Pro has some of these long sustained Fenderish sounds.  They can be created there, I'm sure.

I am hearing a Rhodes piano played thru a chorus/flanger effect. The effect I am hearing is achieved by really cranking up the depth so it's almost 100% effect and the rate set slow. The chorus will do this better as far as musicality. The flanger will have to be played with to get the setting because the flanger is more intense. Either way, just turn the depth or intensity up until you hear the swooshing sound and then adjust to taste. Also a lot of sustained chords are in there. Either hold those chords out or your gonna have to have a sustain pedal.
Not sure but it could be two parts stacked. In some recordings we have done one track of chords just being held or sustained with the pedal. Then we open up another track for the just the little fills where ever we need them. Yes, it is cheating but whatever gets the desired end product is fair. I can't tell from my little computer speakers but this seems to be the case here. The chord piano seems to be very mellow sounding while the littles fills sound almost DX7-ish. Hope this helps.

To me it sounds very classic Mk1-through-a-CE2. But I only listened on my phone just now. Perhaps try the Nomad Factory Analog Chorus on a Mk1 Rhodes patch and tweak the EQ. Some reverb and compression to place it in the back of the mix should also help.

Is LL the only Rhodes you have available? I would take Scarbee over it any day.

EDIT
I don't have the VKFX PC things but I would assume the chorus to be modeled on a CE2 so that might help if you do have it (if it's any good). There's a world of difference between chorus sounds, especially at high settings.

Well Rhodes is a piano not an organ. That could be the reason you are having trouble finding a suitable sound.

Definitely chorus...I think there is heavy compression with a long release to get the odd, warbly sustain. I do that with my <actual> Rhodes quite often for the background layered harmonic structure.

d16 do a lot of things fx wise that would suit that sound... even sigmund and some of their other units.. 1 uses a rhodes as a demo..

you got enough hints, it's down to you to do the homework..

dnb and you didn't drop this.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9hRv-mooJM

I dunno.. ;-)

you might recall it prior to that in tom & jerry's air freshner

lot of the 4hero stuff uses rhodes also.. but it's the processing after as well... thats the secret ingredient..

I forgot Roy Ayers produced that song. I don't think i can add anything that wasn't said.  I will throw in a personal opinion.  I think the MK1 version offered by addictive Keys is a little more "creamier" than the lounge lizard offerings for this sort of thing.  No matter wh t you use (eve na vintage rhodes), Fog is right, it will all be a matter of processing.

Just a Rhodes with the sustain pedal depressed and then through a vintage Chorus.....

a CE2 was mentioned (probably my first try) but any rich Chorus should do the trick.
