  • Can I change the default behaviour of lanes/loop recording?

When I record in a loop, I always overrun a bit, so record a small amount in a new lane before hitting stop.

However, the default lane/comping behaviour is to mute a small fraction of the previous take corresponding to the length of this overrun and enable in its place the small overrun.

This is a bit of a pain and slows down workflow.  I have to expand the lanes, delete the incomplete part and un-mute the muted portion of the previous complete take; I never want to keep an 'incomplete take'.

Can I change the default behaviour such that the final, incomplete overrun is muted (or better, just deleted),
and it's the last complete take which is enabled?

TIA :-)

Just an observation, as I don't know how you setup your loops and such:  When I do loop recording, I set a loop region that's a little bit longer than my punch record region, so at the end of the loop I might have two beats that are not in record mode, then the same at the beginning (usually a 4 count), so I have a chance to be ready for the next pass.  I haven't done this yet in x3 to know how it behaves.  Is this how you are gdoing it or are you making your loop region and your punch record region the same length?

In the particular case I was talking about, I was just coming up with some rhythm guitar ideas over a 4-bar drum piece, situated at bar 1.

I usually have the loop region set to just the length I'm recording over (i.e. not using punch in/out), but you're idea would be a good way to solve my problem - thanks :-)
